Hi there, I am a worried 20 year old female who was recently diagnosed with a
ruptured left ovarian cyst. The tests that were done at the hospital ruled out
pregnancy and STD's. The doctors did not tell me what type of cyst i have and just sent me home with pain
killers and told me to wait it out. Since leaving the hospital I have begun to have
moderate vaginal bleeding, going on 3 days now. I dont believe its my period, as
im not expecting my period for another week and a bit. Around the same time the
vaginal bleeding started, my left nipple began to be very sore to the touch and
appears to be slightly swollen. Does this sound like something serious is
happening? Should I seek medical attention or simply wait this out?
Cysts can play havock with your hormones. I would get copies of your tests from the hospital so you really know what's going on. I think you are safe to wait a couple more days to see how you are feeling.
Hi there, thanks so much for your comment. I got a copy if the test results and this is what it said
there is a heterogeneous mass with some cystic but predominantly solid appearing components that measures a bit over 3cm. Flow is seen in the surrounding ovary but not within this lesion. A trace of free fluid is present in the pelvis.
There is a complex lesion in the left ovary. Most likely diagnostic consideration include a hemorrhagic cyst or endometrioma. Clinical correleation is recommended.
I would appreciate any and all comments/advice on my situation!
One thing I learned from all of this is is to definetly get a copy of all of the test results from your doctor. Mine just told me it was a cyst and didnt share ANY of the above information. My advice to anyone who is reading this is don't hesitate to ask for any documents regarding your test results.
