Simple ovarian cyst with nodule

Hello all.  I need help please.  Last week (Thursday) I was acting as a guinea pig for our ultrasound department and they ended up finding a 3.5 cm cyst on my left ovary.  I had been having some minor pelvic pain for a few weeks and asked them to  check it for me.  When this was discovered I made an appointment so that my doctor could order an official ultrasound.  Yesterday (Monday), I had the ultrasound, just 5 days after the initial discovery.  The cyst is now 4.2 cm in diameter.  Here are the ultrasound findings.....
The uterine contour is smooth.  The echogenicity is homogeneous.  Multiple Nabothian cysts.  Right ovary measures 2.6x2.5x2.3 and contains normal follicle measuring 1.0 cm.  Color Doppler demonstrates normal flow on the right.  The left ovary measures 4.3x4.0x4.3 cm and contains a cyst.  Within the cyst, there is a 4mm nodule.
IMPRESSION: The left ovary is normal in size and contains a simple cyst measuring up to 4.2 cm in diameter.  Within the cyst is a 4 mm nodule.

I am wondering how serious this might be, and why the Color Doppler may not have been mentioned for the left side.

Thanks

If your current doctor is not a gyno, then he may be unsure what it is and possibly overreacting. See what a gyno thinks. If the gyno acts worried, then you may want to upgrade to a gynecologist/oncologist for surgery since they are much more qualified to safely remove cysts that appear suspicious. This could all prove to be a false alarm, too, but it is important to rule out worst case scenarios.

It is the right ovary that has a follicular cyst on it.  The left one is the one I am having trouble with.

There is nothing mentioned about being follicular.  It is definitely not that.  What it was is a 4.2cm cyst with a 4mm nodule inside it.  Doc said its definitely not normal, and growing rapidly.

I don't know how old you are but you do mention the word follicular which relates to the ovulation process.
I am becoming an expert on ovarian cysts as I have one and I have spent ages on the net researching them.
Follicular cysts are almost never cancerous. No doubt your doctor is being on the safe side.
I don't know anything about doppler I'm afraid but you should go back to your doctor to ask questions if this is bothering you. My doctor tried to fob me off as I was asking too many questions but at the end of the day that is part of their job.
I have been told my cyst looks benign and blood tests were normal but am now waiting for them to decide what to do with it!

I have been speaking to my doc for the last 2 days regarding the ultrasound results.  He wants me to see gyn asap as he is concerned about the nodule inside the cyst.

I get lots of cyst on my ovaries. When I get pain in my lower abdomen I go in and get them checked out with ultra sound to make sure they are dropping and not growing into huge clumps. I have had many painful ruptures, that seems to be the only crappy thing about it. I have had two kids so it didn't prevent me in that area.  As long as you are seeing a doctor for this, that's great.
