I mean I can see* why..I left out SEE LOL
is it not possible to edit our posts here? LOL
Ugh I know! I can why so many 'bigger' woman (and men) die now.
There's other problems not being found because every ailment they complain about is being blamed on their weight!
I have to be realistic though; I know my weight could have a lot to do with some of my conditions (cysts, back pain etc..) but come on..at least do testing! KWIM?
I had an U/S (bookd) last week that some ER quack sent me for , but he set up a pelvic u/s where you drink water..even that U/S isn't all the time accurate, I asked for a transvaginal ultrasound, and he denied me. I cannot handle drinking all that water, especially since I alway HAVE bladder issue, and he knew it too. So I delayed it knowing I'll be seeing my GYN today..which brings me to my next little "story" below..LOL
I have my first appointment (FINALLY!) with a WOMAN (YAY!) GYN today; in about an hour actually, and we'll go from there I guess. I really wont know what to expect today.
I'll update when I get home :)
Thank you for your reply..means a lot to me.
Probably because a dermoid has such a solid nature to it, most likely. Cysts cannot be guaranteed to be totally benign until pathology tests, but they can tell if they are dealing with fluid filled ones, complex ones, dermoid, etc. based on how they look on scans, ultrasounds, etc.
If you really want faster attention, then you may want to find your own gyn and have the hospital forward your records to that person.
If you ask me, blaming your weight for causing your pain is just plain laziness on the doctor's part, not to mention discrimination. Let's just blame weight and ignore the patient who knows her body much better than you do. Cysts are a very misunderstood medical problem by those in medicine that do not specialize in them.
oh, and no..I didn't get to ask him the size. He pretty much was rushing me out to deal with more patients. I had to ask questions, and poke him for more answers. He just wasn't giving me any.
How can a test how it's a dermoid? I thought a cyst couldn't be diagnosed without a biopsy or to have it taken out and examined.
Well the kidney stones are on the opposite side of the cyst. And even when I didn't have stones (diagnosed) I had the shoulder pain; way before the stones actually. I think I've had the cyst for a least 2 years and not even know it. I knew it, but my old incompetent doctor didn't test for them, even after my many complaints and of my telling him I think that's what I have. He said I'm having pain because I'm overweight! So I pretty much diagnosed myself but had no "back up" of a doctor to confirm or to rule anything out. :(
I just called the ER and the finally took all my paperwork/results and forwarded them to the Ob/gyn on call for a followup and hopefully an appointment soon; as I'm having some really bad pains now, and lots more(tmi) "discharge.'' (ICK)
It ***** being a chick! LOL So the nurse I was talking to this morning said because this isnt a life threatening condition that I will probably be waiting a couple or more weeks for the GYN to contact me. I know it's not life threatening and an acute problem but the pain is so unreal :( and upsetting my life, & daily activities. My pain meds run out in like 24 hours. So I think I'm going to end up back in the ER AGAIN! Ugh.
Thanks for your reply. This forum has helped me a lot!!
Based on the above, you have two situations occurring, both a dermoid cyst and kidney stones.
For the cyst (any idea of the size in cm?), you need a gynecologist, preferably one that specializes in gyn surgeries. I'd avoid the OB/GYN practices since they focus so much on babies and focus less on the other female issues. Dermoid cysts are solid and do not go away on their own.
Kidney stones would need a urologist if they are severe enough to need specialized treatment. The shoulder pain could be connected to the stones. There are various sites on the internet with various home remedies for stones. Not sure how useful these remedies would be if you are getting referred pain, though.
The numbness? I guess either condition might be causing pressure on nerves and other parts giving that sensation. That might mean blood supply is being restricted somewhere.
Best wishes to you and I hope you find good doctors to help you. The ER didn't do much but make a basic diagnosis and send you on your way (fairly typical from what I've read of others' stories).
me again LOL
Sorry for any spelling and grammar errors, I'm on percocets and they make me wonky; plus it's 3 am lol YEAH that's my excuse. haha.
Thanks again for listen to me mumble.
