Ultrasound of ovarian cyst

Ultrasound report states there is a 2.7cm solid mixed echogenic, hyperechoic and hypoechoic, ovarian mass with internal color flow. It has nonspecific features and should be considered neoplastic until proven otherwise. Complex fluid in the endometrial canal. What does this mean?

I'm sorry, I know this post is very old, but I was wondering if you would consider sharing what the outcome was of the ovarian mass seen on your ultrasound? I've recently had a similar mass identified on u/s.

Ultrasound of ovarian cysts is not an exact science. Most ovarian cysts are benign and most go away in 2 to 3 cycles / months. Yours is still small which is also good. If you do not have a family history / genetic predisposition for ovarian cancer then your lifetime risk is less than 2% (1.3% per government statistics).

If there is a concern about malignancy, you will want to see a gynecologic oncologist. If you end up needing surgery, you should not need to lose your ovary or any other organs if the frozen section done while in the operating room shows that the cyst is benign. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries unnecessarily when their surgeons should remove just the cyst(s). That happened to me 10 years ago and I have been suffering the consequences ever since.

We need our ovaries our whole lives since they produce hormones our whole lives and are essential to good health, as proven by numerous studies.

Keep us posted on what more you find out. Hopefully, the cyst will go away and this will all be behind you.
