What should I do, new symptoms of ruptured cyst....

Last monday I went to the emergency room for severe abdominal pain which the ER dr said was burst ovarian cysts. Since that time I have lower back pain (lower back pain for over 6 months intermittently), intermittent stabbing pains in my lower abdomen, thigh pains, bloating, indigestion, gas, frequent urination, feelings of pain in my ovaries every time I need to pee, uncomfortable fullness every time I try to eat, I feel so stuffed with any little meal and transient nausea. Ok so tonight I took my temperature again and it is now 100 degrees. The discharge instructions said to get prompt medical attention if my temp is 99.5 or higher. So tonight I called the nurse hotline through my insurance and they told me to call my doctor. With the crappy insurance I have, I have only ever seen a "physician assistant" and can only get through to a PA, never a real doctor when I call after or during regular hours. Tonight when I called the doctor, I was sent to a PA (I will call her Amy) who said I might have a fever due to a "virus" and I should stay at home and not go back to the ER. I told her I started having a brown discharge today and is that normal. She told me thats normal and its from my uterus. She didnt seem to know what she was talking about, which is a bit scary. I don't want to go back to ER and receive substandard care again, but I am not sure what I should do. Any suggestions?

Burst ovarian cysts might take some time to resolve and are painful as the fluids collection is irritating but I dont understand why cant u go to the ER, especially that you developed fever.. Ultrasound needs to be done to confirm that the only reason for the pains is the fluid collection from the ruptured cyst. Do not take the advice of someone that u felt didnt know what she was talking about.
Good luck to you!

I got the actual result of the abdominal ct and contrary to what the doctor told me about abdominal fluid, it says I have 2.5 cm of collection of fluid in the pelvic area and "possible ovarian cyst".

I now have very heavy bleeding (have had heavy bleeding for years but never checked)and still abdominal pain however not as severe as it was and my fever is gone.

The gyno told me that I need an ultrasound asap, but that only the insurance company can authorize an ultrasound so now i have to wait for my insurance company to practice medicine. Hmos put there feet in where only doctors should dare tread.

So now I just have to wait.....

Hi ticked,

I have not had an ultrasound or MRI done, just an abdominal cat scan. Which according to the doctor showed i had burst ovarian cysts and fluid in my abdomen.

They told me they would do an ultrasound at the ER but never did. Now I have an appointment tomorrow with a gyno I have never been to. After I called and explained my symptoms and hospital visit, the nurse told me i need an authorization from the insurance company to get an ultrasound. I told them I had already had a cat scan and now need an ultrasound, but that will probably be delayed as well, if its even approved. So at the appointment tomorrow we'll see how that goes. I know hospitals are a money making business, thats why the insurance company has to scrutinize every medically necessary procedure and delay it until its "approved".
