Will I ever be able to have babies?

My first ovarian cyst was found in October of 2010, after it had burst and my left ovary had to be removed as a result. I was put on the pill, and in March of 2011 another cyst formed on my right ovary. My ultrasound showed that it was the size of an orange, two days later when I went into surgery to have it removed it had grown to the size of a melon. The hormone dose in my birth control pill was increased soon after, and did not have further issues. This past Friday I saw my gyno for pain in my ovary, and I have a fibroid cyst in my ovary, and one was also found on the back wall of my uterus. My hormone dose had to be increased again, and I have been ordered to skip the week of placebo pills so I stop having menstrual cycles.

My concern is whether I will ever be able to stop taking the pill so I can pursue having my eggs frozen, if my girly bits ever stabilize again. I am scared to think of the possibility of being off the pill for nine plus months straight for pregnancy. I am 25 and am not wanting children right now, but am having difficulty staying positive thinking about my future. Any experience with this, advice, or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

HI,
I can understand your concerns. You can continue with the pills as long as you do not want a pregnancy. This will help with the ovarian cysts as well as the fibroids. When you wish you get pregnant the pills can be stopped. Also you need not worry about the nine months of pregnancy. A pregnancy acts like a pill, as the hormones oestrogen and progesterone increase during pregnancy. If your plan of pregnancy is far away then freezing of eggs can be considered. So be positive and follow Doctor’s advice.
Take care and good luck.
