could I have fibroids tumors or something more sinister

Hi- I am 53 yrs old. I have had endometriosis and been treated for it twice by laproscopic procedures, to get rid of the webs and also to help with infertility. These surgeries were done when I was trying to get pregnant over 10 -15yrs ago.

From what I understood at the time, at the last procedure, the webs of endo were lasered out.
I never have gotten pregnant. Decided to adopt, and have an almost 11 yr old son, we adopted him at 2 days old.

I am currently experiencing lower back pain, frequent urination and heaviness and dull achiness in my pelvic region along with some vaginal discharge. It is thin but has a distinct odor.

I went thru menopause over 5 years ago and have been on hormone replacement since that time.

I am wondering if possibly the endo has returned due to the hrt's that I have been taking?

Please advise.  I am planning on setting up an appt for be checked out by my obgyn very soon.

From my symptoms- does it sounds like possibly the endo came back or never went away completely or could I possibly have fibroids or possibly something more serious. ? I am adopted myself and have very little medical information about my birth mother or any female relatives.

thank you

Hi there
Welcome to the forum.  Endo just needs estrogen to grow so if you still have your ovaries then this could have been growing before you went through menopause as well.   It is hard for the doctors to get every last spec of endo since it can be so small and it hard to get places.
I just had a full hysterectomy for endo, fibroids and repeated complex cysts.  I haven't yet gone on HRT because I wanted to wait and see if I could manage the symptoms but also because of what you mention above - HRT can make any left over endo grow.  My symptoms were similar - dull pain that worsened the week before and during my cycle, rectal pressure (I had endo on my intestines)
It is good that you have an appt w/ your provider which would be what I would have suggested you do next.

There is a forum for cysts on here and most of the women on the cyst forum know a lot about endo and fibroids also, as many of them have had multiple issues.  Most of the women on this forum have cancer and haven't really had your issues, so you should really check out the other one.  Here is the link.
