cyst pain

My 16 yr old has been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. The dr said it is 7 centimeters.  She is having pain in her upper right side of her abdomen, nausea, vomitting and dizziness. Is this normal?

You may want to consider a second opinion since it doesn't seem as though you're getting any answers .. Is your daughter seeing a Gyn? It's important that she see a specialist.. Now, what kind of ultrasound did she have? an abdominal ? or Transvaginal. ? The transvaginal is better .. Let us know.

Thanks for your reply. We ended up in the ER again last night. They did a CT scan and say she has a distended gallbladder. I am so frustrated and I know she is. I posted in the gastro forum hoping for some answers. Hope you are doing well.

Did they give her anything for the pain?? I have functional cysts that rupture every month, The pain gets really bad. I get pain everywhere between my ribs and pelvis. Also in my lower back. Sometimes i get nausea, and its seems like i am always dizzy. If she has pain meds, call the pharmacy and see if its ok for her to take motrin to. Anti-inflamatories help. Does she have a fever?? You should call her gyno and tell them whats happening-dizzy-vomitting-sever pain. If it gets to where she cant move or developes a fever take her to the ER. Because it could be that the cyst ruptured or twisted the ovary. Or it could be something else. Dont know what kind of cyst she has?

They redid ultrasound after 1 month but we haven't gotten results. She was referred to a general surgeon bcause they thought it may be her gallbladder, but after 3 different tests it was not her gallbladder. They referred her to gastrointesinal dr. who did an upperendoscope which did not reaaly show anything but some errosion from gastritis. We are really frustrated and can't seem to get any answers. I don't know what else to do. She is in pretty bad pain and vomitting.

I know that many times pain can be "referred" from the usual location. Usually the pain is felt on or around the ovaries, but it can also be felt in the back, down the leg.. so I suppose it's possible. What has the Dr. advised? Are they going to re check it in a few months? I'm sorry she's having to go through this at such a young age...
