cysts without ovary

I am 47 and have had a total hysterectomy in 10/08 after several ovarian cysts and adhesion's. My right ovary was imbedded in my bladder and when I had surgery, the doctor told me he wasn't sure if he got all the spores and that my ovary may grow back. He didn't want to damage my bladder.  Now I am having severe abdominal pain and he thinks I have a cyst but until the transvaginal ultrasound on Friday, 3/26, he won't know for sure what it is. He thinks that the ovary has grown back because he says it is very uncommon for a cyst to form where he feels it without the ovary. Has anyone ever had this problem? The pain is on both sides of my abdomen and I feel many lumps.

This is the third time someone is telling me I have ovarian cyst with something growing on top of it. In 1989 I had a total hystorectomy and there was nothing left. 5 years later I am on my knees from the abdomal pain. Here I am told that there is cyst and adhesions and the cyst had some type of mutation growing from it hair and calcified stuff. That was suppose to be it. Nope, 4 years later I have pain and more pain. Her another cyst with stuff growing out of it and more adhesions. I am now facing this again. WHY? If all of you are having something the same why isn't there someone paying attention the to problem BLAST the area so nothing grows. If you have any answers write.

I have Ovarian Remnant Syndrome (ORS) which it sounds like what you have.  When I had my cyst removed, it was stuck to my bladder, bowels, and colon making it impossible to get all of the ovarian cells out.  Since then I have had one surgery to remove a cyst and a remnant and am possibly facing another surgery.  The only bad thing is that since my ovary was stuck to so many organs, it will be impossible to ever get all of the ovarian cells out which means more cysts in my future.  Marie is so on spot, if you can get a GYN/ONC, then that is who you want to talk to.  I am not that lucky as my insurance will not pay for the out of network doctor, but I love the gyn that does my surgeries.  I also want to add that is is really hard to see my cysts because of all the scar tissue and where the ovary has regrown.  If the ultrasound does not show anything, I would ask for a CT scan.  This is how we are able to see my cysts.  Good luck and please keep us posted.

It has happened, yes.  You are going to need a better surgeon if this needs removal.  Ask for a referral to a gynecologist/oncologist.
