durmoid mass

I have a durmoid mass that is about 12cm on my right ovary. I have to have open surgery for this in the next few weeks. Wanted to see if anyone else has had one removed and what the surgery and recovery was like. Any info will help thanks.

Hi, I had open surgery to remove the same size dermoid as u just 1 week ago. The first couple of days r unbelievably painful, to be expected from big op like this but today feel fine, obviously have to be very careful for a good few weeks, so its really the boredom that gets u the most! I was very tearful after, but apparently anasthetics can do that. Honestly, in the first few days just remember u will feel so much better by a week after. Good luck, hope all goes well. X

Hi There

I had a 10 by 15 cm solid mass removed from my L ovary just under a year ago.
The surgery went very well,I would say it took about 3 hours to to the surgery and I spent 5 days in hospital.
Recovery was a bit slow for me I would say 4 months before I felt myself again.
But everyone is different.
Are you having open surgery / Laparotomy?

Best Wishes
