I had Keyhole in November and found this a relatively pain free procedure, I was very nervous of the anesthetic (having never had surgery before), however I had a sedative before hand which calmed me down.  You will be provided with surgery socks to wear to prevent clots, and a gown.  Being put under general anesthetic felt like going to sleep and waking up again in seconds with no memory in between.  I had an inch incision in my belly button that had 3 stitches.  There was no pain when I came round from the operation, you may feel abit groggy from the anesthestic, but I just slept for 2 hours afterwards.  I went home the same day and was given pain meds to eliminate gas pains in my chest ( they fill your stomach with gas so they can have room to move around and see your organs), but I only ever took the one pain med as they made me constipated. The chest pains for me was bearable, and I just slept.  I felt a little pain as the stitches were healing and tightening around my wound, but again this was bearable.  The operation/procedure itself was much much less scarier than I thought, and easy to recover from, 2 days afterwards I was hoovering and cleaning!  Good luck x
