hi all!! i am having my 2nd laparotomy done today week as my endometriosis has become really painful again and i'm really feeling down about it. the recovery time in my first laparotomy was slow (6 wks) and quite painful. is there any hope of recovery being faster 2nd time aound or is this wishful thinking? also, if an ovary is removed, will recovery time take longer?
I believe recovery time will take the same as last time unfortunately :( but this time you'll know what to expect, what works for you, etc to be comfortable during that time. As for ovary removal, I dofnt think it will take any longer. I had a laparotomy to remove an ovary, and my recovery time was still 6 weeks before I could start to return to things, but still took a couple months to feel fully back to normal and have the strength to do all normal duties again etc.Good luck with your upcoming surgery, sorry to hear this will be your second! Hopefully you will not need anymore after this one.
