I haven't gotten the Doctor/Radiologist report but the Technologist who has gotten to know me pretty well this year (3 ultrasounds now), says that she doesn't know why but she saw both ovaries this time and it doesn't appear that the cyst, which she thinks is the same size, is on the ovary now. She said she doesn't know where it's attached if anything but it's between the ovary and the uterus, she showed me the screen and honestly none of it made sense, just a lot of blackBlack cohosh Black draught Black haw and white stuff.
She said she's heard of paraovarian cysts and she said it's still water filled simple cyst. I asked her what shape the cyst is and she showed it to me, she said the edges are smooth as silk.
Anyone know if this may be cause for celebration? Should I have the Oncologist/GYN read this report online and see what he says?
I'm really not wanting to have surgery unless I have to.
I would definitely ask the gyn/onc to review the new results and get his opinion. I don't know what it means myself, but would really like to hear what he has to say. I don't blame you for wanting to avoid surgery if possible.
well I guess the tech wasn't correctCorrect (new formula), who knows. I got the test results today, I have an appointment with the regularRegular insulin GYN next Monday. Basically they said that the impression is a right parovarian cyst. Previously thought to be within ovary but actually is extennal and lies medial to the ovary (news to me, I don't remember reading this in past results.)
they said size, shape and configuration in normalNormal saline flush position. No masses, they have the uterine dimensions and confirms a normal uterus. Endo stripe is 3 mm. Right ovary measures 2.3 x 1.0 x 1.2 cm. This is lateral to the cyst which has been described previously. Cyst again measures 3.3 by 1.8 by 2.6 cm, (isn't that larger than the ovary?) and has only very minimal internal echoes. Left ovary is normal measuring 2.2 by 0.9 by 1.9 cm. There is no free fluid.
?
Whew.
I don't know if an MRI or an catscan or petscan or something else could show us more?
I share your confusion. The cyst is slightly larger than the size of a normal ovary, yes, but it does not sound like a big deal. Still would be interested in what the doctor has to say.
Look at my example: I went into surgery with them thinking my cyst was on the right ovary but it was really on the left. It appears these tests are definitely prone to misinterpretation!
