non visualization of right ovary

I have  to find out how my right ovary is doing , out of all my child bearing years I never had a non visual ovary, and the left ovary been cystic since 2002 and the Dr. does not think its the reason for my pelvic pain and back pain. I have 3 children 23y/o 17y/o and 11 never had trouble with my ovary not being seen I am not going to accept it. if I have a history of ovarian cyst and I still have a cyst on my left ovary and at that time had free fluid and its still there. what is wrong with me wanting them to find my right ovary.

hope you feel better soon...you have been in pain way too long !!!! do you still have insurance? maybe you could ask the doc to send you for a mri or pet scan..that should show your ovary and if the cyst is still there. let me know how you are!!!

Thanks TrudieC ; I 'M very glad you agree with me it means a lot , I have not been to work since April 07,2009 and it was first mainly because of back pain and pelvic pain and now I got this ovary thing, I don't want to seem ungrateful to my job or just don't want to work! but I swear that my body just cant stand long with out low back and pelvic pain, I gotten the first surgery to ease the pressure and pain and It did until January 2003, I kept swelling up all over and joints and muscles were stiff with pain, I didn't think that my left ovary still were cystic, I was diagnosed with multiple tumors in 2002 thats why I had a hysterectomy in the first place and  I was told that my right ovary was saved and my left ovary was taken out, honestly I would not make those accusations against a well known gynecologist and surgeon. Then in January, 2003  my tonsils and my face wrist and legs were swelling I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia because my blood work was normal its normal now but I am in horrible pain my tonsils  kept swelling, kept swelling and thats because I had a cystic left ovary and fliuds was leaking,  , I now know that fibromyalgia could have been a misdiagnoses and I am not taken; It's ok not to be able to moinitor your missing right  ovary. I know I must sound like a cry baby or a broken record  .but this pain could have been prevented if they would have stopped  given me a clean bill of health with a few medication for pain and sent on my way and never should had taken  anyones verbal word for everything with out it being in black and white. seven years has past and I just thought it was swollen tendons, joints and muscle syndrome, never knew that a woman health issue was or could be the reason I'M diagnosed with all my pain and symptom. I have every right to keep a monitor if my history is multiple tumors. and your blood work could be fine but there still can be tissue damage , your urine could test negative but your pap smear could be abnormal that have been done and vice a versa the blood work could be abnormal but pap test could be normal. All of us  ladies must take charge of our health and pay more attention to our bodies if it feel unordinary it is keep searching until you are satisfied with your answers and diagnoses .

I'm with you.  Your ovary has not disappeared, it is being blocked by something and you need to get this resolved.  If it were me I'd insist on at least a laporascopy to get down to the bottom of it.  At the very least your symptoms indicate the cyst(s) must be removed.

I only can speak on my pain because  everybody body and emotion to pain is very different , why I say that my tolerence for pain on a good day is mostly a 5 and if I take the pain meds around the clock my pain level could be a 2 with no activitys. When I got my hysterectomy it as painful at first walking and getting back into bed but holding a pillow helps a little, its good to hold the pillow  if you must cough or sneeze or it feels horrible, and I had the worst gas feeling and to me morphine was not my cup of tea I immediately want to get unhooked from the pole you know the IV pole so I took percocets and ask for a stool softner immediately because being costipated the pain is so severe because your small intestine drops down into your cervix space because its taken out doing the hysterectomy.and now your bladder is not supported either because the cervix use to support the bladder ,naturaly we have no pelvic support after our uterous and cervix is removed our low spine and hips are not supported but kegel will help make your pelvic strong but after your six week check up the doctor will tell you when light excersise and going back to work and authorize it when you feel strong enough to go back to work.

I know how scarry this stuff is..man im freaking out myself!!  did he say why he didnt take out your ovaries then? man i would be mad!  i told my doctor to take everything once she is in there cuz im not coming back for more surgeries later. lol. im having a total hysterectomy jan 8th and im soooo scared of being put under! not to mention the worry of having cancer. how was the surgery for you? was it painful? how long does it take to feel normal?  your very wise to do what your doing..the symtoms you are having is the same as a cyst/tumor. I myself have an 8.6cm complex ..i dont have swelling or pain..only when i push on it..and my hip too hurts/ not the same side of mass tho. weird huh!? keep me posted and try not to stress!!!

I did have a total abdominal hysterectomy but my ovaries stayed intact. I don't think the ovary on the left was big but in 2002 it had free fluid visualized and now in this year ultrsound they say theres no free fluid visualized, the size of the cyst in 2002 was 1.5x1.2x1.3cm its small  and I think it shrunk but it did not go away and the size of the cyst now is1.3x1.1x0.7cm.  Yesterday I gave the ultrasound report from 2002 to the doctor so he will have a comparising. And I request for a second opinion I am not trying to be one of those person who think everything is wrong and I don't want to jump to conclusion if its hideing behind my small intestine cause it could be and I want nothing more to stop going back and fourth to the doctors appointment if I can find out why I'm haven so much pain and tendonitis in my hip and pelvic and with low back pain. I have a swollen stomach and get gassy when I eat I could never figure it out why I could not get my figure back until now I wished the doctor who did the hysterectomy would have lasered off the cyst when he was inside my abdomen then. because In 2003 I got sick all over they diagnose me with fibromyalgia now I think it was my ovarian cyst that go me sick. I have been taken motrin 600 and gabapentin 600 and darvocets for a while I decided to not take so many to see if a fever would set , I won't ever get one if I keep taken fever reducing meds for pain then I will know if I have a infection. I think I will manage ok since I am not able to go back to work yet. Thank you doublek180 I will keep you posted .

Hi..sorry your going through this too!!! Have you had the SAME cyst on your ovary since 2002 ?   Im curious because i have had the same one for 3 years. I havent had a period for a year and a half...Im wondering if its due to the d**n thing !!?  you had free fluid and the doc didnt want to remove it back then? This is scary going through this..especially at out age. well..im 3 years older than you..but i was 43 when i found out i had this one. Is your belly swollen? maybe the cyst is so big it is blocking the other ovary? and what size was your cyst the last time you had it checked? also...the doctor doesnt know what he or she is talking about as far as the pain thing goes..i myself dont have much but i have heard that even the smalles cysts can  hurt like crayzy!!! please let us know how you are doing!!
