ovarian cyst and fibroids in uterus

i resently had an ultrasound done it showed fibriods and a cyst i havent ment with the dr yet it was done 3wks ago one dr was on vacation, then another dr's nurse called said i need to have biopsy done of fibroids, i couldn't get in any sooner than 3wks out , she only briefly mention the cyst, the nurse said it was a large cyst, she said they will only do something about it if it hurts which is why i went in1st place.  i cant seem to find anything on inernet about anyone having both i can never get anyone on phone at my dr office, i dont know if i had this before and no one told me, i had my tubes done 3yrs ago after my 4th child, i have always gained a lot (like 80-100lbs) when off BC pills or preg. even though i dont change anything in my life style.  i seem to lose weight fairly easily on the pill though. my dr did blood test, cholestrol, hormones, fasting blood sugar 3wks ago they say everything normal, but how can it be?

Hi , i had a cyst removed and 4 fibroids without having my uterus removed. The surgeon did not want to remove my uterus because of previous surgery i  had done on my bowel. So you can have the cyst removed and fibroids without loosing your uterus. Mine were quite big, so they had to come from there. Im not sure but i think this procedure is called a myomectomy when the uterus is left. Take care and get rid of the things in your body causing you pain, you will feel better after it . x

rudme is absolutely right.  You can have cysts removed without having the fibroids removed.  Did the nurse say why they want to biopsy the fibroids?  It is most likely just a precautionary measure.  If the cyst is causing you pain, then you should consider having it removed.   I agree also, that you should seek the council of a gynecologist/oncologist.  They see these kinds of cases everyday and have way more experience than an OBGYN.  Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Hi--I had both a large cyst and two fibroids.  I had the cyst out but opted to keep the fibroids in as they were not too large and I wasn't ready to part with my uterus yet.  I realize I may have to go back for another surgery if they grow, but I was willing to take the risk.  Again, they weren't too big, but since I was having the cyst removed, it was option to get them taken care of at the same time.  Find a good gynecologist, and if they start talking surgery, I recommend a gyn/onc (you don't have to have cancer to see one, they just have lots of experience removing masses).  Good luck, and feel free to ask me any questions!
