Thanks for your replies. They were very helpful. The cyst was benign and completely disappeared after a month.
I, too had a benign cyst and I'm way past menopause. It was small, but at our age, they do take them a little more seriously.I think I'd be a bit more concerned with post menopausal bleeding. However, as the previous posters have noted, it has not been a full year yet. I wouldn't worry too much about the cyst. I don't know where you read that benign cysts can't form on ovaries of postmenopausal women... but obviously that's a myth.. And, there are many more of us that have been on this forum that have also had benign cysts and are postmenopausal. Regarding the test-- I'm assuming it's a CA-125, if the Dr. says you must wait four days after your period, ,there must be a good reason.. But, try to rest your mind. Cysts are still 95 % benign even at our age !
Do let us know how things go,

I am post menopausal, was without periods for a good 2 years when my cyst formed. It was 10 cm when it was removed along with the ovary and tube. Like you, I thought once you hit menopause, the ovaries shut down and were quiet. Surprise! And nyc lady is right - you have to be period free for a year. And yes, my cyst was benign.
Benign cysts can form on menopausal women....and it is my understanding that someone is not in "menopause" until they have gone 12 months without having a period.
Most cysts, well over 90 percent are benign. Not sure what blood test the doctor is taking.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes!!!!
