ovary removal

I have had a hystery of cysts and probably endo.  Last ulltrasound the cysts are still there and a bit bigger and causing some discomfort.   My obgyn recommends removing the left ovary.  I am 43.  Does a regular obgyn do this type of surgery or should I be seeing a specialist???

I had endo and two endometriomas on my right ovary. I had the endometriomas removed along with my right ovary and right fallopian tube. My surgeon also cleaned up the endo and some adhesions she found. I am 48 years old.  My regular obgyn did the surgery laparoscopically, which made for a pretty easy recovery. It was much, much easier than I expected.  It is important to find a gyn that has a lot of experience with laparoscopic surgery.  GOOD LUCK!
