pain after laproscopic surgery

Well I finally had surgery Friday Dec. 5 to remove a 10cm cyst and left ovary and two 4cm cyst on my right ovary.  All was benign.  My problem is I have a terrible pain under my ribs, it hurts to breathe, it feels like my ribs are broken.  The doctor said that I would have pain in my shoulders and back from the air that they put in during surgery but this feels horrible.  Is this normal and is there anything I can do to make it go away???  Has anyone else had this problem??

Thank you all so much for your support,  I really do appreciate it.  Each day is getting better I just have to remember to take it slow.  I did load my dishwasher and make my bed today I hope it won't come back to bite me in the butt later on.
Amis472 I was given percocet for pain but it makes me really sick so I am just taking motrin and it is doing okay.  I was wondering though last night I started bleeding a little, and I don't know if that is normal, has anyone else had that?  It's not alot only when I go to the bathroom and wipe it's like dark brown.  Also since I only have one ovary left will my periods still be the same?  Sorry if I sound like I'm asking ya'll for a diagnoses, just wondering if anybody else has had these issues...

You had major surgery with minor incisions.  Think of it that way.  Don't do too much too soon or you'll feel even worse!  Glad you're feeling better.

I to had a 15 pound cyst that had fluid in it and was a tumor i had several things removed. The pain is normal because of what they did to you wile in surgery and the incension they did. i had painfor months in my abdomen/stomach'ribs and my back. if it dosent't get better check with your doctor. when i checked with my dr after afew months after surgery i was told i had another cyst on the half of my right ovary i have left my left one is completely gone. so try and take ur meds and see ur doc for ur check up. what all did he give you for pain meds.

I do feel a little better today.  I still have some pain and bloating especially after I eat.  I am only three days out so maybe I am coming along normally I just had it in my mind that laproscopic  surgery was going to be a breeze and unfortunately for me it's not.  Maybe in few days I will be better, and yes walking definately does help.

Hi,
I was very fortunate and didn't have this problem. Actually I understand it is "gas" that is put in your abdomen to expand it so that the Drs can better view the organs. Sometimes some remains and causes some pain. It isn't the same as "intestinal gas".. I did hear that walking is the best thing you can do.. walking and more walking.. It will disappear and that's the good thing !

Hope you feel better and let us know..
Sandy ..

I haven't had laparoscopic surgery, but I've talked to ppl who have and they said the pain wasn't always in their shoulders.  Some had pain in their chest and abdomen from the gas.  Have you tried Gas X and that sort of thing?  What about your pain medication?  Does it help?  I hope you feel better soon!
