I suppose I will cook everthing before surgery and have reheated food for christmas. Maybe I will have to surrender and let my daughter do the cooking.:)  I can make the pies before surgery or just get frozen ones this year.  Not my favorite way to plan christmas but am so glad to have heard from the nurse today.  she said she is going to call me concerning pre op which i am anxious to here what thats about

Cooking so soon after a laparotomy?  I seriously doubt you will be up to cooking a full Christmas dinner after such a short amount of time.  This is one occasion where the family is going to have to cook for you (your daughter, perhaps?) or you may just want to keep it a simple Christmas gathering without a full home cooked dinner.  Or find a good take out restaurant that delivers, or prepare something in advance that can be frozen and reheated.  You won't be able to lift ANYTHING 5 pounds or greater, and that eliminates so many things in the kitchen, it will really be a problem without someone doing the lifting for you.  You will be moving around like a 90 year old for at least the first week, possibly two weeks. Let your family fuss over you and serve you this year!  It's too soon for you to be doing things like that.

Just have a successful surgery and take the pressure of Christmas tradition off your plate this year.  Just enjoy your family and take it easy so you recover properly!!
