sharp stabbing pain on my left ovary

It can be so many things.  Ovarian cysts do cause this type of pain, but so can menstruation and ovulation.  Any new or persistent pain warrants a trip to your gynecologist to find the reason.  If the pain is severe, don't hesitate to go to urgent care.  Most causes of this type of pain are benign and go away on their own.  But, you don't want to endure a stabbing pain that persists without been checked.  I hope you feel better soon!
