Is it caused by PTSD?

I'm suffering from Avoidant Personality Disorder as well as Agoraphobia. According to my therapist it could be from PTSD. I'm now 34 years old, when I was 10 years old my mother was shot in the head and survived but had to learn how to talk and walk like a baby. It was very traumatising for all of us and my mom wasn't "realy around" when I was going through my first periods and what not. So my question is this: could I still be suffering from PTSD?

It sounds like your therapist is very well informed and can help guide you on your way through the many facets and symptoms of PTSD.

drifter0213 is correct in that PTSD does not go away, but with therapy which sometimes includes prescription Medications, a lot of the symptoms of PTSD can be dealt with as they pop up in your life.

Good luck to you

In my opinion, you could very well be suffering from PTSD. Im 35 and I was diagnosed with PTSD four years ago, but they said it was from my mother's death back in 1996. So ive had it all this time. Now i can finally get some help. I do wish you the best.
