11 weeks pregnant and in pain!

I am 11 weeks pregnant and have a terrible pain in my abdomen! I have been to the ER and they ruled out a UTI and all the obvious things, I don't have a OB yet and I am wondering if is OK to take a narcotic pain killer (tylenol has done nothing and the ER doc said no ibuprofen because it is a anti inflammatory) without harming the development of the baby in the 11th week! I am new and having trouble posting on the right forum, any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you for your answers! I wanted to say that I was posting for my son's girlfriend and I was in such a hurry and panic that I posted from her view to simplify things. I myself am actually much older and a PP. Thanks again!.

My advise to you is to get in touch with an OB asap! Sandee is correct in telling you that you should NEVER take anything while pregnant unless prescribed by a Doctor. And yes, the first trimester is the most crucial. Please be on the safe side and get yourself checked out. It's not just your life now, it's also your baby's life that can be in jepordy.

Have you thought about checking out the Pregnancy sites on MedHelp? they might be of some help as well. Please take care and good luck with your pregnancy!

Hi,
I would advise you to never take any narcotic while your pregnant. Now some doctors will tell you it is fine in controlled situations. But being in your first trimester I would strongly suggest you do not take a narcotic but find a OB quickly. What did the ER doctor tell you to take. When you ask can you take a narcotic, is it prescibed to you?
You have to be very careful becuase your baby is forming in these first months and no study can 100% prove that narcotics will not harm the baby.
Please go back to the ER if your in that much pain because something may be wrong that needs to be taken care of quickly!
