Advice on how to deal with this wrist

Greetings everyone.
I have searched around the internet and couldn't find what I was after.  Then this website popped up and I thought i'd give it a shot.

I have had this reoccurring wrist pain for about a year and a half.  When it first happened and went away, I left it alone.  The second time, I went to see my doctor, who sent me for x rays.  The x rays came back that the wrist was sprained.  I kept it wrapped up for a few days and it seemed fine.  Ever since, every once in a while, it will just start up again with the same pain, in the exact same spot (the left wrist, on the outer half) There is no swelling with it, and no bruising.

I am wondering if it is just a weak spot in the wrist, that is aggrivated by certain movements or actions.

If this is the case, does anyone have any ideas on how to strengthen the wrist up?
Or, any way to deal with it?  If I wrap it really tight, it seems to be pretty good, but then my hand gets sore from lack of circulation.
It's a big pain, and is ruining daily activities like snow shovelling, golfing, push ups, etc!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi, thanks for the reply!

I am hoping it's not arthritis, as I am only 29 years old!

I will try that and see how it goes

Thanks again!

Sprains & strains take a long time to heal, especially if there is ligament damage. ( I had an ankle injury that took about 3 years to be completely free from pain, and not get re-injured from stepping on it funny).  You can continue to wrap it, for support, but if it is getting sore from being wrapped you may be wrapping it too tight.  You can do an internet search for 'wrist strengthening exercises', but here are a couple to get you started.  Squeeze a tennis ball, and, use a light weight (1-2 pounds, or a can of vegetables) and move your wrist in all directions, support your arm on your knee.  Move up & down, and side-to-side. Increase the number of repetitions first, then the weight, but do it slowly, so as not to re-injure.  Make sure to follow up with your doc if any redness or swelling occurs!! Happy healing!

it sounds like you might have some artheritis in it. you might just need to take pain meds when this occurs.over the counter.
