Always in pain

I was involved in a car accident april 2013, and had some injuries, but was told my back showed no break. I was put on Percocet 5 ....every 6 hours, but wasn't getting enough pain relief. I constantly get a burning or ache in my spine area that is very painful! Trying to offset the pain medication (as doctors don't want to increase due to addiction).... I seem to regurally take a bottle of Tylenol 500 mg of 100 tabs per week. I went to yet another provider that started me on tramadol 50 mg x 4 per day, but again this doesn't seem strong enough... so then im taking tramadol and Tylenol! ...Told my provider, he started me on cymbolta ... this actually seems to help my anxiety but still yet .. doesn't seem to overly help my pain level. Sometimes I am left in tears. So currently I am given Percocet 5 (3 times a day and tramadol 50 mg x4 per pay.. pain wise this seems to work, but as soon as I start taking tramadol, I develop a terrible rash.... so back to Tylenol... not sure what to do...is there any other mild pain killers I should look into besides tramadol? The 3 percoset 5 per day isn't enough, and when I was on nothing but percosets I had to take it every 4 hours...it seems all doctors don't like this.
I also suffer severe nuropathy and take 1800 mg nurotin daily ...any suggestions..
just tired of hurting

You must take a suggestion from your orthopedic surgeon as he can better suggest you what is good for you.

And if the what if  the pain management route is not working due to the new limitations via DEA/FDA laws, then what? The new restrictions are amazing bad in their collateral side-effects wrt chronic pain patients. At least CO has allowed the option of alternative pain remedies - and they do work very well. I think the traditional pain med route is ineffective now with the mindless "drug-war" mentality out there. There is no reason at all for you to suffer the chronic pain, no reason at all.

Yes, there are other medications you can try, but there are also other treatment modalities you need to explore.

Can your physician refer you to a good pain management doctor?

Also, you're taking too much tylenol -- this will cause liver damage over time. Please limit your tylenol to 3 g per day -- this is 6 - 500mg "extra strength" pills.

There is tylenol in Percocet. In the mean time, please ask your doctor to rotate you to roxycodone which does not have tyelnol.

A good pain management doctor will work with you and find a proper treatment regimen for your pain.
