I have had a chronic dental pain(upper molar area) for the last 20 months after a dental procedure. I have tried some non-psychotropic medicines to alleviate the pain. One of them Tramodol helps a bit but has much too strong a sedative effect for it to be practical every day medicine. My facialFacial paralysis Facial tics Facial trauma pain specialist wants to prescribe Pamelor which is an antidepressant. I am not depressed but she says that these medicines can help with pain managemnet. This has me greatly concerened. I am not opposed to medicine but I do not want to tread into the work of psychotic medicines to help with dental pain. Would this medicine be worth trying for a month or so? I am not open to taking this long term. Makes no sense to me as I would rather deal with the pain than be on anti depressants when I am far from depressed. Thanks. Alex
Alot of PMPremenstrual syndrome Relieving pms doctors do use anti depressants to treat pain. This is not uncommon at all. i would suggest trying it to see if it helps and if not then you can try other classes of medications. Pamelor is a mild medication and is used quite often for pain controlControl Control rx.
