I think that is a great Idea. The nerve Dr will know exactly how to treat your pain. When they do the nerve block they know exactly what to do because they do it often and be successful also. I can almost guarantee he will fix it and you wont need any pain meds at all. Your life will be so much better.
Good Luck
Jessica

I think you are doing this right, by leaving the last pain management doctor and looking for someone else. I've had 12-14 spine injections/nerve blocks in 1.5 years and every single one has put me in unbearable pain.(I can't remember how many exactly) It was on every level of my neck/spine and repeated 2-3 times. Not to mention the procedures are painful themselves and very risky. The nerve blocks with the steroids is only to reduce inflammation or diagnostic to see if your a canidate for a nerve burn, which would lessen the pain. I also have horrible reactions to steroids and I have no idea why I was given one after another. I personally hate pain meds, but I have no choice but to take them in order to take the edge off of the pain. One thing that may help you is if they deadend/burn the nerve that is causing all this pain. I can not have that done, due to my spinal cord is my nerve damage and causing the pain. However, I'm not sure if that is even an option for you. I'm so glad your not giving up and I'm still praying that you find the right doctor who is willing to help you. Take care.
Don't give up! There are some really great pm docs out there. We all had to go thru
all the bad ones to get to the good ones we have now.
It takes time just hang in there. Ask around about some good pm
docs in the area and call and speak to them and tell them your situation
and see if they would be willing to help you and if you find one that
you think has potential then ask your pcp to refer you.
She knows it takes time to find the right doctor for you.
Sorry about the typos I am at my sons and using his iPhone and
I am terribleon these things:)
Thank you Sherry like always you have been my God sent and I truly believe I found this board for a reason.
Some may look at me like a drug seeker, but the truth is I am a mother of 2 wonderful kids and a great husband that lives in pain 24/7 and want to feel better so I can care for my kids. I know what works for me and what don't. And I don't think i will let what that dr has put me thru yesterday get to me. I let it mess me up really bad yesterday. And the good thing about the nerve dr my old nerve doctor will find me a good one and do all the paper work so I can get seen by a good one. I don't have to go thru my PCP. But I will be calling and lettting them know my plans. The way she said yesterday "This pain dr is taking over your care you have to do what he says to do" that really got to me. My life is not going to be in the hands of a dr that thinks it is all in my head and is to young to be treated. My kids deserve more then that. I am not a drug seeker, I am a CP mother that needs meds to help with my pain so I can live my life. I am so glad you got a great doctor Sherry! And I know how lucky you know you are by finding him. I just hope his replacement is just as good to you as he is and I am sure he will be talking to the new pain dr to let him know what works for you and what dont so he can feel better about leaving you in someones elses hands. I just wish I could find a dr like that.
I will call my old nerve dr on monday and get the ball rolling on this so I won't be in pain for to long. Next friday is my birthday it is the day I am suppose to start the methodone, I really don't want to but it is better then going cold turkey off my meds so I guess I have no choice but to take it. I will get the nerve pills filled to try to them and see if they help. I guess I will just have to sit back and watch my life be planned out and hope and pray it goes a good way so I can try to get back to normal.
Thanks again
Jamie
I think that it's time for you to go the nerve Dr. route and do the nerve block and see if it will give you the relief that you need. Find a "Top Notch" nerve Dr., the best in your area and go to him. Let him do the nerve block and at least try to get rid of the pain. Then if it doesn't help you will have tried it and NO Dr. can say that you weren't willing to try it. If the "Top Notch" nerve Dr. sends you to a PM Clinic THEN they will treat you for your pain and not treat you as someone that ONLY wants the meds which UNFORTUNATELY is what they are doing to you right now.
Please give it a chance I think that you owe it to yourself and your family to try this route and try to get your life back on track.
I'm VERY proud of you to have come to this conclusion on your own and I hope that you will begin finding that Dr. RIGHT NOW!! Be sure and PM me when you have your choices narrowed down. I'm really excited for you and your plan to move ahead with your life!!
Good Job Jamie, I'm so PROUD of you!!!....(((HUGS!!!)))...Sherry
