Best Friend Breast Reduction

My best friend got breast reduction surgery yesterday, and she is always in a lot of pain. She's on a few rather strong oral narcotics, but she still can't really move without being in pain. She can't sit up on her own, or sleep on her sides without causing pain to the breast area. If it helps, she went from an H cup to a B or C cup, which is a rather big change. She can't sleep at all, so she has a large area under her eyes that is dark and baggy from lack of sleep. Is there anything I can suggest for her to do to relieve some of the pain? I can't stand to see her in so much pain, and she always looks like she's about to cry. She got this surgery so that her back and neck wouldn't always be aching, and so that she didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to get a bra that would fit her, so I'd hate for this surgery to do her more harm than good. I really care about her, and I want to do anything possible to help her recover comfortably. That being said, she is on a fixed income and at the moment she can't even work. I really want to help her, please give me some advice.

Post-op pain can be tough, but it usually abates to the point that the painkillers will eventually help out a lot. give it some time before you panic. good luck,

I would not give her anything for pain. You have no idea how it may react with what she is taking now or has taken recently. The surgeon needs to be contacted and made aware of her pain. I have been through several surgeries and unfortunately extreme pain goes with it. She should be feeling much better by day 3. Not feeling good but better. Read the post surgical instructions. I'm sure that they recommend ice on the area for swelling and pain relief. But please do not give any meds unless the doc has given the ok. Many docs recommend alternating pain meds with ibuprofen for inflammation and pain. Good Luck to you!

If she just had surgery yesterday, then I would think that she should just stay in bed and rest for the first few days. If she can't sleep in her bed, then get her propped up on a couch or recliner. The first few days of any surgery are usually the worst and she shouldn't be doing much of anything at all EXCEPT resting.
