It's been a loooong time since I've posted anything here and have a question. Has anyone tried Embeda yet? I know it's just morphine combined with naltrexone that is suppose to be "abuse proof". But I've read where people have taken it and its put them into withdrawal and they assume it's from the naltrexone, although its not supposed to be active if taken correctly. I have an awesome doctor that will pretty much let me try any meds out to see if they work and he said he just received information on this stuff and I told him I would try it out and let him know how it works. I'm still waiting for the prior authorization to be approved, but should have it in a day or so.

It's good to see you again. Welcome back. You were missed and I hope you are doing better.

Embeda was recently approved by the FDA. It is an Extended Release Capsule for moderate to sever pain. Hype has it that it is the first FDA-approved long-acting opioid that is designed to reduce drug liking and euphoria when tampered with by crushing or chewing.

Most web-sites state that if it is crushed or chewed, the naltrexone is released and absorbed with the morphine, reversing the morphine's subjective and analgesic effects. I took this to mean that it is still morphine with addictive qualities but changing it's form renders it ineffective.

Yet here is the waring from Embeda's own web-sit that it CAN still be abused......  
BEGIN:   "WARNING.....Embeda can be abused in a manner similar to other opioid agonists, legal or illicit."  END  This can be found on embeda (dot) com.

It will be interesting to hear how well it controls your pain. Please let us know. I will look forward to hearing from you again...Please don't be a stranger. :)
