Hello Jeff,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum.

I would not ingest a medication that is expired since 1997! If you have pain issues please consult your PCP.

Best of Luck to You,
~Tuck

Please don't take expired medication without speaking with your doctor first. Can you call your doctor about calling something in and also make an appointment?

It's also not a great idea to self-medicate! If you are having pain that needs something as strong as a narcotic, you should probably see a doctor just to make sure there is no underlying issue instead of numbing the pain. They can give you much stronger, safer (not expired!) meds :-).

A pill that old would probably not have much medicinal property left.

Hi jeff,

First I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. I want to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum only CP - Chronic Pain - Patients that help each other with our OWN expertise and experiences that we have developed through our OWN CP Issues.

I DEFINITELY would NOT take ANY pills that are that old.  Pills that are 13 years old are probably deteriorating.

You can ALWAYS call your Pharmacist and they will tell you how long it is safe to take them.

Please let us know what your Pharmacist says as it would be of interest to all of us.  I KNOW that you can take SOME medications past their expiration dates.

We will be looking forward to your updates..............Sherry
