Did the doc tell you why? Are you not getting enough relief from the oxy? I know a guy who went from Oxycontin to Avinza that only has to be taken 1/ day--But the main reason was that the Oxy was not working well for him. I also think doc's are getting paranoid prescribing Oxycontin as it has recieved such negative publicity. whitfield
why the change? morphine isnt as strong as oxy, and has horrible bio-availability...,whereas oxy works wonderuflly when taken oraly...I wouldnt switch personally...also with oxy I feel motivated, whereas morphone makes me tired.
i have used morphine sulfate 1 100 ml and 3 30ml a day and switched to oxycontin 3 80 ml a day.i have only used oxy for 2 weeks but think the morphine worked better. i have had failed spinal surgies altho my surgeon thinks he is a success story. as he says beautiful scars. i had frontal and latural surgery, spine straightened 3 discs fused and had hardware removed recently. now am on pain mgmt. among other therapies. felt much better before i committed myself to this surgery.
