Extreme post-traumatic neuropathy/chronic pain of 3 years.

I have undergone 8 major operations over the past three years as a result of a simple injury...inguinal hernia. I had both a left and right herniorapphy, however, after going though a year of post-operative pain (extreme shooting, stabbing, radiating, dull, and burning in the groin, thigh, and genitals), I decided to go through with an inguinal neurectomy.

It has been 2 years since the inguinal neurectomy and my pain has increased easily ten-fold...no kidding. I have always had a very high tolerance to pain, however, this is just getting ridiculous. Pain in the groin, thigh, hips, and genitals/penis. Whenever I engage in sexual activity, I suffer excrutiating pain in the base of my penis/front of pubic bone and scrotal sac (not the testicles strangely enough).

Has anybody ever gone through something similar? Does anyone know where I turn at this point?

I have been through 30 different medications, multiple inguinal nerve blocks, and have a peripheral nerve stimulator implant. Even with all the various treatments, I still have to deal with this treacherous pain...PLEASE HELP!!!

Are there any surgical options out there for my situation?

If anyone knows just a little about this situation, I will be very thankful...if you know a lot...please help me understand what might lay ahead for me in life.

I am so sorry for what you are going through.  About 9 years ago I had a bilateral inginial hernia repair that ruined my life.  I have tried just about everything that I can that would not leave more permanent damage to my body.  My doctor had actually suggested at one time cutting off the nerve and seating it deep in my thigh muscle. But said it could be severlly worse so opted out of that.  Is this the operation you had?
