Eye pain with swollen muscles of the eyes

About 3 years ago i had what the doctors thought to be pink eye in my left eye. After treating for pink eye for 2 months they did a CT scan and told me that is was not pink eye that it was an orbital pseudotumor. I followed up with a specialist who prescribed oral prednisone. after 3 months of no improvement he began steroid injections to the eye.  After almost a year the symptoms had gone away with no ongoing treatment. In december of 2010 my eye starting hurting again like before. Went in and had a CT scan done and seen another specialist and he said all the muscles in both eyes are inflammed and touching. Started the prednisone with no results so started the steroid injections in my left eye once again. There has been no relief after the injection in face symptoms are getting worse. Constant and severe pain in my left eye now and my doctor does not know how to treat it. He checked my thyroid levels thinking it was thyroid eye disease but thyroid levels are normal. Not knowing how to treat it he has told me to go into a pain clinic to be treated for the pain. I have not heard from them as of yet but would really just like a diagnosis and treatment plan to relieve pain and symptoms. Can you help????

In my opinion, it sounds like thyroid eye disease. You don't have to have a thyroid disease to havet TED.

I have TED & currently under the care of a neuro-opthamologist. I totally understand the pain, I call them eye headaches. Eventually I will need surgery, but trying to hold off as long as I can. Only thing I can do is eye drops & eye oniment.
