I notice that I feel more awake after taking my medication but then tired as it is time for the next dose. This is probably because my body has become tolerant and dependent on the medication.
I also don't sleep well because of my pain and that may have something to do with it also. I take my last dose of pain medication about two hours before bed and it wears off rather quickly after I fall asleep.
My doctor wants me to take Oxycontin 20 mg. twiceTwice-a-day a day, (1 every 12 hrs) but I just take one during the day and then a 5mg Percocet before bed. It gets me through the day but the nights are tough.
I better understand you other post after reading this post. It is most likely the oxycodone in the percocet that is making you sleepy. Unfortunately it is just a side effect of the medication for some.
I take hydrocodone and as the dose wears off I become sleepy. Sometimes if I am idle I can doze off for a few minutes. I find that caffeine helps. As soon as I take my next dose the sleepiness subsides. I am not positive but I think this is a fairly common side effect.
Hi Truth123,
I see you have made several post concerning hydrocodone and oxycodone and I was wondering what you have been diagnosed with? Normally new members will put this information In theri profile. This is something you should do so that we know what you have been diagnosed with when asking questions pertaining to your pain and the medications you take.
Thanks:)
have you tried taking the meds at set times rather than as needed. this may help you build a pattern that minimises the side effects. it may give your body a chance to 'acclimatise'
