For over a month I have been experiencing pain in left arm,now includes neck, back and hip.

I thought at first it was tendenitus and did the usual treatments and nothing worked.  Now the pain is growing into other areas.  It started in my left arm at the elbow area and then worked it's way to my wrist then up into my shoulder, neck all the way down my spine and now into the hip bones.  I went to the emergency room they hospitalized me thinking I was having a heart attack they did a ultra sound on the arm to check blood flow and nothing was found.  Any suggestions?

Since heart issues and tendonitis have been ruled out, you might consider consulting a neurologist, as it sounds like nerve pain.  The problem might be a herniated disc somewhere in your neck that is pressing on a nerve and radiating pain down your arm and shoulder.  We unconsciously try to compensate for pain by adjusting body position, and that gets muscles involved further down that are asked to do something other than what they're used to, and results in more pain far away from the actual site of the injury.

Whatever the problem may be, you'll need to keep pushing your way through the medical system to get an answer, and for that, I don't envy you.  :-)  Good luck!

I agree with last poster.  The symptoms in your hip and leg is only connected to your neck and arm pain due to over compasating(SP?) The disks in the spine go to certain areas.  Each disc goes to a close area.  A problem disk in the neck cannot effect a nerve as far away as say the sciatic nerve in the low back, butt and leg. As a disk in the low to mid back can't effect nerves in your neck. Not directly anyway.  You baby one area it will throw off other areas. The longer you allow that to happen the worse it gets and starts to involve more areas that way.  I would get a referral for a neurosurgeon or orthpedic surgeon to see if any nerves are being pinched.  You'll need an x-ray at first then maybe some antiinflamitory meds, possibly physical therapy and if all fails you will be sent for an MRI which will show more details in your neck and upper spine.  They won't do the whole length of your spine, it's too costly and not needed. You may be looking at 2 or 3 more months of trying everything before your insurance allows an MRI to be done.  Good luck
