Forever Grateful to ALL of YOU for your Prayers!!

My WONDERFUL  MH Friends!!!

How can I EVER Thank You ALL for all of the Well Wishes and Thoughts and Prayers that you have all been gracious to bestow on me during my Surgery, Hospitalization and confinement to the Skilled Nursing Facility!!! It's been a VERY long FIVE WEEKS!!!!  I've missed you ALL so very much and I've missed talking with you all so much. I JUST read ALL of your  WONDERFUL PM's  and notes to me AND your calls meant the WORLD  to me!!

You all will NEVER know what it meant to me to have your beautiful and kind and LOVING words that you posted with each and every update!!!  I will remember ALL of your kindnesses FOREVER and hope and PRAY that I can repay all of the kindnesses to  each and everyone of you that you have shown to me throughout all of these weeks of confinement!!  I SURE missed having a computer to be able to talk with you all each day as I have since I first joined MH earlier this year.

I got home at around noon today and it sure feels GOOD to be back in my OWN bed even though I had a FANTASTIC mattress that was brand new.  I was the FIRST patient to be able to enjoy it and it made me be able to sleep at night which isn't easy in a hospital environment - as most of you unfortunately know first hand!!!!

As Tuck told you I will be in a wheelchair for several more weeks but they got me a special wheelchair with a high reclining back that has a MUCH deeper seat which keeps my leg from swelling and hurting like it did with the regular wheelchair.  I've learned that it's best to wear ONLY one Granny shoe so that I won't forget and put my left foot on the floor by accident - which cold cause the TINY break - less than an inch across - to split the entire length of the Femur and we DO NOT WANT THAT to happen!!!!!!  SOOOOO I'm being a VERY good girl and doing EXACTLY what I'm supposed to do BUT it's NOT easy to be laying around and not being able to do much.  Of course, I was doing what I was supposed to do when the "Break" happened while I was laying in bed. So you can NEVER tell what might happen!!  :)

I'm REALLY looking forward to school being out in a little while so my PRECIOUS Granddaughters will be home and I will be able to see them!!  Sorry, I just HAD to throw that in because of how VERY much I've missed their hugs an kisses.  We couldn't bring them to see me because my youngest Granddaughter with the Autism would have ha a VERY difficult time LEAVING with out me.  So I ONLY talked with everyone by phone as that was manageable!!

I met MANY nice people from the CNA's, Nurses, Housekeeping, and my Dr. that I was assigned to - and then my PT Therapist Carrie and my OT Therapist Alex. They were ALL Phenomenal  and I will be forever grateful for them getting the muscles back in shape in my broken leg - so that NOW I will be able to get my leg to where I can walk on it again and be able to FINALLY heal from my PERFECT Hip Implant!!!  AND I do want ALL of you to know that the surgery was a 1000% - yes I DO mean 1000% - SUCCESS.  MY DR. is the best Orthopedic  Surgeon in the World - as far as I'm concerned - as the X-rays are PERFECTION!!!  The other patients were wonderful and a REAL pleasure to be with and I met one lady  who was the ONLY other patient that was younger than me - almost everyone was OVER 70 - so being the two youngest and across the hall from each other, we struck up a nice Friendship and as soon as her computer is up and running you all will be meeting her also as she will be joining MH. I told her about "OUR FAMILY" here and she could hardly wait to join and be a part of it.  She still has several MORE weeks in there and I will be checking on her daily as she has MANY VERY serious health problems and I intend to be sure that they are giving her the special care that she needs.  So if you all have a few Prayers left PLEASE send them her way!!!!  Thank you in advance!!!  :)

I don't know if I ever told you all this before BUT -before my Surgeon replaced the "BAD" implant, I could lay on my right side and LITERALLY  Wrap my hand 3/4ths of the way around the implant - I mean I could HOLD IT in my hand.  NOW it ONLY feels like a NORMAL leg.  Throughout ALL of this I have NEVER had ONE MOMENT of pain from the hip implant!!!!  That is an UNBELIEVABLE thing to be able to say.  But that's how EXCELLENT my Surgeon is!!!!

If I may take a moment and send a VERY SPECIAL message to a VERY Dear Friend to ALL of us - PLEASE bare with me:  :)

My Dear Tuck - I will NEVER be able to pay you back for keeping me in the "LOOP" and reading to me everyday the Beautiful responses from EVERYONE and sharing ALL of their kind words that helped to make it possible to keep my self going throughout ALL of the PT - Physical Therapy PLUS all the time that you spent posting the NUMEROUS updates!!!  You DESERVE ALL of the Accolades that the members bestowed upon you for keeping them notified.  I FEEL truly honored!!  Tuck - Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Husband this week as you go through this difficult week of events.  How LUCKY they were to have you BOTH as their Dear Friends for all of these years!!!

It is WONDERFUL to be back on MH and with you all again and I will keep you updated as my healing progresses and I FINALLY get back to "NORMAL"!!  One of the BEST things that has happened is that the RFA that I had on my back last Spring is STILL working and keeping my LOWER back out of pain.  I DON'T know what I would have done if that hadn't worked and I'd had to lay on my back all of this time with that additional pain from my back.

God has been VERY good to me in helping me to get through all of this and much of it has to do with your prayers that you sent to me DAILY!!  So Thank You ALL once again!!!!

I'm so glad to be back and I want you ALL to know how much I love you all and appreciate you all -  once again!!! I'm going to TRY to be on MH daily BUT it may be a little slow at the start until I can be VERY comfortable sitting and typing.

I Hope and Pray that you all are doing better with your health problems and please know that MY Thoughts and Prayers have been with you all these past weeks!!!

I'm sending you all MEGA HUGS!!!!!  and MUCH LOVE to you all........Mama Sherry

LOL Racing scooters at Wal-Mart!  Now that is great!  No one can say the gals in the PM forum don't know how to have a good time! LOL
We went to Disney for spring break one year with my grandparents (over 10 years ago) and my grandmother decided to get a wheelchair just in case she got tired.  We soon discovered that it was the only way to do Disney during the mobbed tourist season as they allow families with wheelchairs to get on the ride at the exit and there's NO wait!

Now for the 9 on the computer keyboard.. I think it's a matter or using compressed air to blow whatever it is under the key out.  Although I'm not sure.  DH says it depends on what happens when you press it.  If it feels like something is stuck in there, it's fixable, it it just stopped working then it may be the contact and you may need a new keyboard.
I hope it's the first one and easy to fix!

Bree - I have another idea - we could go to Wal-Mart and get their scooters and RACE through the aisles!!!!  LOL

We can DEfinitelY ret the Scooters at DisneyWorld as we used to rent Jean - my late Hubby - a Scooter every time we went to Disney. That was at LEAST once a year as he was botn and raised in Kissimmee.

Great Idea  -  Thanks for the the good memories and the Laugh!!

I'm assuming - hopefully = that the problem with the "nine" on my computer is fixable?  Is it an easy fix?  I just don't know much about computers!!  LOL

It sounds like you may have something stuck in your keyboard, Mama Sherry.  That happens to me sometimes as I let my daughter who is 9 use my laptop.  We had to make a rule about not using it anywhere near dinner time and she has to wash her hands after eating before using the laptop.
It always seems that the keys that get stuck are ones we use more than we thought we did, lol.
I think the trip to Florida is a great idea!  We could have a PM Forum mini-convention!  Heck, we could go to Disney World!  We could rent some motor scooters and be our own slow-moving biker gang (or scooter gang?)! LOL

My Dear Friend,

I'm forever Grateful to you for taking on the duties of updating the entire Forum during my prolonged stay at the Hospital as well as Rehab!!!  No matter what YOU were going through you stayed in CLOSE contact with BOTH my Daughter and then when I could take calls with me.

You read EVERYONE of the NUMEROUS Wonderful and heartfelt messages from ALL of my Sweet and Concerned Friends and because of you doing that their messages as well as YOUR wonderful words kept me going through some VERY difficult times!!!  I will NEVER FORGET the self-less giving of your PRECIOUS time - even when you were feeling TERRIBLE - you STILL did it without a Second Thought!!!

I PROMISE you that I will do EVERYTHING I need to so that you WON'T have to do that again for me!!!!

I will be a VERY Good Girl!!!!!!  The next time I get my luggage down I PROMISE you it will be to take a TRIP somewhere however - IF it's Florida I just might show up on YOUR doorstep!!!!  LOL  You don't need to worry though as I don't think I'll be able to do that!  LOL

I'm sending you MEGA HUGS and much Love..........Sherry

PS You may have noticed - or not - that I haven't been using brackets round the Hugs - that's because for some reason my Number Nine isn't working on my computer and THEREFORE there are no Brackets.  It's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!  LOL

Hey Sherry,

We are ALL so happy that you have returned safe and sound. You are so brave!! I know how difficult these past many weeks have been for you.

I'm just glad the worst is behind you and you can now begin to get back to your ole self and life. Only this time it will hopefully be a much less painful one. I won't guarantee that you'll be dancing....but you should be ambulating with much more ease. No more falls!!

Don't forget to take good care of YOU. Be very careful with everything you do. If in doubt, don't do it. I don't want to hear of any set backs. So you take good care of yourself.

It has been my pleasure to update our wonderful members. I agree with your daughter...the next time I am doing any updating on you.....I want it to be about your vacation. Hopefully your winter vacation to FL!

Welcome Back Dear Friend,
HUGE Gentle (((HUGS))),

I thought I had your name on the above post Jaybay  -  silly me stopped and looked up the spelling of "commode" and forgot that it erases the name of the person you are writing to!!!

See the hospital stay didn't help my BRAIN any - LOL

My Gosh I missed you so much while I was gone as you NEVER fail to make me curl up in gales of laughter!!!  You post is STILL making me laugh out loud each time I read it.

You KNEW this tough old broad  wouldn't be kept down for long!!  LOL

MY bed does feel good!!  I do miss the fact that I can't "raise the head of the bed" though.  LOL  It made it REALLY convenient for eating and changing positions so I'm trying different things with my pillows,

I'm noticing that when I'm sitting up for long my left leg - the operative one - seems to have a few circulation problems as it turns red - my foot that is.  It may have something to do with the way the foot rest on my wheelchair is set so I'm going to mess around with it some and see what happens. These rests are different from the one in the hospital and we haven't played around with them.  It also does it when I sit on the commode as my seat is much wider and more of my leg is on it so I may trying to put something under my foot as it doesn't touch the ground because it's raised up so high and that might help some.

If ANYONE has ANY suggestions that could be of help in this PLEASE give me suggestions. Once I lay back down the coloring is back to normal with in a matter of 3 or 4 minutes.  Oh well such is life. LOL

Seems there's ALWAYS something you have to work out after surgery!!  LOL

I KNOW your solo will be great today - YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Much love and hugs for the MANY laughs that you give ALL of us.......Mama Sherry

Well hot dam and lift up the toasting glasses!  I knew a broken bone wouldn't keep our Sherry down for long - tough old broad that she is.  LOL!

I am so very happy that you were in a great facility, and also that you got sprung pretty quickly.  Isn't it so very nice to be back in your own bed again?  That's what always got me about hospital stays - I want my own bed, sheets, and above all, my own toilet.  LOL!

Welcome home!  :-)

Hi Sweetie,

My BEAUTIFUL Granddaughters were VERY excited when they got home from school. My Youngest one - with Autism - had a GREAT day at school so that she could come and see her "NamNam" the MINUTE that she got off the bus and my 12 year old one doesn't want to leave my side!!  I didn't realize, until last night, what was going on.  She was snuggling with me and everytime I would close my eyes she kept asking - almost in tears - if I was OK - OR - she would say "Nam, What's wrong, do I need to get Mom or Dad to help you, are you ALRIGHT.  She was afraid I was sick and going to have to go back OR even worse that I was going to pass away.  She was TRULY frightened!  Once we had a long talk about it she was BETTER - she STILL doesn't want to leave my side for long BUT she's getting better about it.  :)  My youngest one comes in every few minutes to CAREFULLY touch my leg and be sure I'm STILL here.  Yesterday, she almost had a tantrum BEFORE she left for school because she thought that when she got back home I'd be gone "back to the hospital".  Now she feels a little better and she and my WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL Daughter have gone to the library while my Oldest Granddaughter felt it was safe for her to leave my side and go to rehearsals for "Guys and Dolls" - which she tried out for while I was in the hospital and won a part in the Chorus as one of the Missionettes.  She's VERY excited.  She was the ONLY one in her group that got a part for the SECOND production in a row. However, ALL of her friends come to see her perform each show.  She does have an amazing voice - of course as you know I'm NOT PARTIAL AT ALL.   LOL  :)  I'm VERY proud of BOTH of them and LOVE them both VERY much!!!!

This afternoon they are baking me a Welcome Home Cake and are VERY excited about that also!!

Yesterday, as My Daughter, was putting my suitcase up on the TOP Shelf of my closet, she turned around and looked at me laying in bed - like a GOOD Girl - and said "Mother the NEXT time I have to get this suitcase down it better be because you or we are on a vacation!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME????  And just grinned really big at me!!!

You can understand why I love my Family so much and why I'm so Proud of them all.

Yes, Mellie, you're right - as usual - coming home is the VERY BEST MEDICINE!!!

LOVE AND HUGS.......MAMA SHERRY

I have loved reading all these posts Sherry!!  You are so very special to all of us.  You are a rare gem in a world of people who only think of themselves.  You are always willing to go beyond what most people would in giving support.  I'm delighted you will have a hundred percent ue of your leg.

Tell me, how great was it when you got to see those grandchildren of yours and feel their little arms around your neck hugging you?  I imagine it was the best medicine of all!

Sorry it took me so long to get back today to post again -  It's been a LONG day today. Just so that you all know EXACTLY what's going on - once my break is healed and I can start to put weight on my leg again THEN it should ALL heal BEAUTIFULLY!!!  As I said the surgery is PERFECT - just the glitch with the osteopenia with my bones. I will have FULL use of my leg and hip and there has still NEVER been ANY pain at all from my HIP.  There wasn't even much pain at the beginning from the surgery - there just happened to be this ONE SMALL PROBLEM!!  As Tuck so EXPERTLY kept you all informed for me - it will just take a few extra weeks to get back to normal.

I talked to my PM Dr. today and told him I wanted to try to start to cut back on my Fentanyl Patches because I'm on an incredibly high dose because of the surgery and the break. I'm on 125 mcg of the patches right now.  He told me that I could ONLY cut back to 112 mcg - only change the 25 patch to a 12 - until he sees me for himself right now as he DOESN'T want me to take ANY chance of being in ANY type of unnecessary pain just because I'm too anxious to lower the dosage.  He did allow me to cut back on the Percocets IF I'm able to - he left it up to me.  Right now I'm on 2 - 10/325 every 4 hours.  Since I've been home I've already cut them back to ONE approximately every 6 hours. And YES Tuck - I PROMISE YOU that I will NOT let the pain get in front of me and I have to play catch up.  :)

Dearest Karen - glad that for the most part everything is going better for you!!!. Be sure to keep your patches on your back - since that's the ONE place you said that they didn't come off.  As I said that's where I wear mine and I've NEVER had a problem there either. :) Thank YOU for all of your love and support too!!!!!  :) You are always there for us!!!!

My Dear Mellie - It seemed like an eternity to me also!!  Five weeks was a LONG time to be gone from home and from you all!!  You sent such sweet PM's and your posts meant so much to me as always!! You are VERY correct about the WONDERFUL members AND Friends that we have here.  :)  You NEVER fail to help ALL of us on here EVERY time that we are in need.  Thank You so much for being here for us!!!

Sweet Jaded - I can HARDLY wait to see the FIRST pictures of Aria Kaelghn!!! How sweet of you to wait  until I was back to "announce" her name!!  I've been worried about you - as well as everyone - BUT especially you because of your pregnancy. I'm SOOOO glad that you are doing well and were able to get things worked out.  I want to hear ALL about it!!!!  I'm VERY sorry that the AZ deal didn't work out - BUT in the long run I understand PERFECTLY what it will mean to be able to stay around the Grandparents as I KNOW they WANT you all there so that they can Spoil those precious "little" ones and NOW the soon to be NEW ADDITION!!!  :)  THANK YOU for being there for me - and everyone - even though you have been going through so much yourself.  Thank you my Dear!!

My Dearest Sara - I missed you so much too but you were so sweet to keep checking up on me.  What a SPECIAL person and dear Friend you have been.  I'm VERY anxious to catch up with everything with you that's been going on.  I HOPE and PRAY that you are doing better!!!! I'm sending you back all of the WONDERFUL accolades that you sent to me!!!  I hope your "Furry" Babies are doing well!!!!  :) There is NEVER a time that you aren't there for us all and EVERYONE appreciates it so much!! Especially me!!!

Dearest Gemini - I can't thank you enough for all of the well wishes and thoughts that you have always sent my way!  You have been such a wonderful friend and I appreciate you so MUCH!!  You - as well as everyone here - are ALWAYS here for everyone and it means so much to ALL of us when you are there for us!!!  :) No matter what - you are there!!  :)

I can't EVER Thank You all enough for EVERYTHING that you have done for me and NEVER will be able to tell you how much you ALL mean to me my VERY Dear Friends!!!

HUGS and LOVE to Everyone of you.......Mama Sherry

Yay!!  I'm SO GLAD to see you back!!  You can ask anyone, the forum just hasn't been the same without you!

Tuck was wonderful and really went above and beyond to give us updates and send along our messages to you!  It really helped me feel closer to you while you were healing.

I have been praying for you daily and I will pray for your friend.  I hope she is able to join us all soon!  We just knew you would make lots of friends and brighten the lives of everyone you talked to!  Make sure you get lots of rest to continue healing.  I'm so glad you have the more comfortable wheelchair to use and assist your healing!  I'm also glad the RFA has been so effective on your lower back.  I have been praying that this new implant would eliminate as much of the pain as possible and allow you to do more things you want to do!  So great to hear about answered prayers!  I know you will be so happy to see your granddaughters and I think they'll be just as happy to see you.

I know you must have a ton of PMs so I will give you my quick update:  Everything is going well with the baby.  I have been waiting until you got back to annouce her name to everyone so I will put it in my status.  I have had some annoying challenges with meds and the pharmacy but things are straightening out lately.  I'm working on tapering so the baby won't have to deal with any dependence.  Unfortunately it looks like the company in AZ may not be able to get things together to get us out there at all and I am really bummed as I was looking forward to being near my "surrogate Mom".  It may be for the best that we stay here, though, as our other family is fairly close by and the kids are getting comfortable in school here.

I know we all love you and have missed you something awful!  I'm so glad you're back and I will definetly still have you in my prayers for continued healing and strengthening.  Take your time in getting back in the swing of things and make sure you rest A LOT.   I'm glad you're back in your own home where you can be more comfortable and get good sleep.  Don't worry about posting much as I'm sure we all understand how uncomfortable sitting at the computer can be.

Mama Sherry, you know how I feel about you ... I am so delighted you are back on this board.  It seemed like you were gone for an ETERNITY!  I am happy reading your post that you sound exactly like your self.  I am thrilled you feel the hip implant is perfect!  Thank God for that.  Having that setback was terrible BUT I am sure you brought so much to all the people you were with during your in-house stay.

Tuck is AMAZING!  Thank God for her and her updates.  She is truly one in a million.  I am always overwhelmed at her commitment to all of us here, despite what she has going on in her own life.

I think we are truly blessed with so many wonderful members here, too many to mention.  There are a certain few I've become very close to.  Without all of you, I would never have made it through this summer.  The roller coaster of my medications, personal issues, the depression that comes with CP ... I would never managed any of it nearly as well without the special people from here.

Mama Sherry, make sure you rest enough!  It' a lot different once you get home.  But I am glad you're home, and I am sure your granddaughters are doing a jig at having you back.

Lots of love,

Mary
