Gallbladder pain but no one believes me….

HELP!!! I am seriously ready to just give up. I have seen lots of posts on this but really no answers, just people saying they have the same thing. I have all the classic signs for the last 2 years of gallbladder pain, all my tests are normal, 2 hida scans, 4 ultrasounds, 1 abdominal CT, I keep having attacks, I am diagnosed with chronic unexplained abdominal pain and am on a 100mcg fentanyl patch and 16 mg of dilauded every 4 hours, both of which do jack while my attacks are on. I go to ER every single attack only to have them say YES its your gallbladder, we just need an abnormal test to remove it… EVERYTHING is always ALWAYS normal, I am ready to jump off a bridge, my abdominal pain is so bad. 4 years ago I had kidney stones but passed them, then was diagnosed with H Pylori but eradicated it after 2 treatments, then the pain changed to this gallblader pain. I did have one radiologist suggest highly that I should have an ERCP but NO one will touch me, surgeon says something such as scans, bloodwork etc must be abnormal. My GI doctor just says take more meds. My GP says I can't help you, live with it… thats the problem, I cannot live with it, I am a nurse and cannot work, cannot play with my kids, my abdominal pain is so bad.

I have had 2 HIDA scans, first one was while I was dealing with an infection. This latest one a few weeks ago was to compare. I'mon so many drugs tthe results are not taken as serious, apparently 2 of theddrugs I'm on affects the results. My GI doc is going to send me for an MRCP...fingers crossed. He also suggested keep going to ememerge over and over lol... Maybe just maybe one surgeon will have pitty on me.

I've only been able to talk to one surgeon who sent me for HIDA scan number 2... Its impossible to be referred to a surgeon, but this one was in emerge... He saw me, said if my second scan changes he would remove it. He is now on vacation to India for 5 months... Grrrrrrr. All my problems started with kidney stones that wreaked havoc on my kidneys, then the pain changed and they found I had Helicobacter pylori in my stomach intestines and right kidney. So they assume this pain is still from that hence the not believing me. I have had 3 colonoscopies (during my infection) and one recently to make sure the bacteria is gone... It is. I saw my GI doctor yesterday and I showed him the pictures of me when I have an attack... He agreed it just might be my gallbladder and is sending me for an MRCP...he won't do an ercp because of the pancreatitis risk. I wish I could go to every surgeon here but you have to be reffered... Its frustrating.

I had this same thing happen in 2006, no one believed me since there were no stones.  I was given 5mg Percocet which didn't touch the pain.  I was literally curled up on the couch for 3 months while I had my mom come over and take care of my kids.  The doc gave up and was going to send me to a pain clinic.  I begged him not to and he referred me to a surgeon.  The surgeon did a HIDA scan and it showed my gallbladder had stopped working.

I had surgery 2 weeks later and I made it to my Hawaii trip a week after surgery.

Ask for the HIDA scan.  It shows the function of your gallbladder.  Good luck!

You need to find a surgeon that will take it out. I need mine out but I can't because I've had two abdominal surgeries and we don't know how much scar tissue I've builded up so he doesn't want to just remove it and cause internal damage.. So if it is as bad as you say it is, it sounds terrible and I'm sorry you're dealing with that! Go see every surgeon that you can find because they will say what they think and most surgeons should take it out if your in that much pain. Have you had any intestinal problems? Like blockages or anything? I have that and it causes severe pain and vomiting. Have you had a colonoscopy by chance? I would start looking at other options since you've had multiple gallbladder tests. Best of luck and hope I've helped!
