Good Pain Doctor or Clinic in Florida???

I am a Florida resident and need a new doctor or clinic. I have records as well as a pharmacy print out of meds. I was prescribed 30mg oxycodone,10mg Norco and 2mg xanax. I lost old doctor due to moving and looking for one with the least hassle. Meaning that I don't want to jump through hoops. I don't mind drug test or providing records, just don't like to be picked apart. I have had pain issues for years and have had numerous injections and done physical therapy with little or no relief. I know what has worked and need a doctor that will undestand and no want to try a bunch of other stuff. I am hoping to hear from people with personal experience but, any input would be appreciated.

As you know I can't help you in Florida.

It is my guess that most new PMP will still want to try many of the things that you have already had done. I think they have to show the DEA that they are doing more than just prescribing narcotics. I may be wrong. Goodness knows I've been wrong plenty of times before.

My herniated and bulging discs are flaring up again, full force, and I receive no sympathy from an doctors that I have gone to! =(

Hi - my sympathies for all who have to seek new doctors due to a move or insurance change, or any other situation.  I've had to do the same - mostly due to insurance issues, but also a move that, although was only a 7 minute drive, meant I was in a different State and under the care of a different State agency (good old Medicaid).  Many meds have been taken from me due to formulary changes within Medicaid, and even private companies when I had self-pay private insurance.

All that being said, I'd like to say that Florida is frequently in the news due to its many clinics that dispense narcotics quite easily.  I just want to caution anyone looking for a Pain Management Doctor there to weigh carefully the ease of getting your medication, with having a good doctor who will follow up with you and make sure you're on a good regimen for pain control.  I know many of us feel we know what works best for us, but there are always new things coming out and its always a good idea to periodically be reevaluated by a GOOD Pain Doc.  

This week, my internist was telling me about a new treatment for the back - specifically the sacroiliac was being mentioned.  Radio Frequency treatment of sorts is able to ablate the nerve just in that area and alleviate the pain.  I was really excited about it and plan to look into it.  Unfortunately, I doubt I can get it (Medicaid again), but it might be something some of you others with back pain could look into.  I also need my esophagus ablated to avoid my pre-cancerous condition from becoming cancer.  It's so frustrating because when it becomes cancer, it will cost so much more to treat me!  Unless they decide Euthanasia is the new treatment for people like me in the future!  (sorry, not a good joke, but feeling a bit neglected!)

Long story short.  Please focus on finding a doctor who has your best interest at heart - not just one who will give pills with little hassle.  AND BELIEVE me - I know some can be unreasonable the other way - I'm not against narcotics - I'm on them and need them to survive.  I just care about you all and want everyone to be smart about the long range picture.

I hope you find someone and can either stay on the meds you know work for you, or find someone with something even better for you.  We do care here and wish for the best.

I am really sorry you find yourself in this predicament.  This is so awful.  But I'm glad to hear that you aren't self medicating from the streets.  That could cause a world of trouble as you well know.  

Normally we don't do doctor referrals on this forum.  And I"m in Texas so I couldn't help you in that one anyway. But we do have members from Florida.  I'm sure they'll be around later.

If these aren't what you're looking for, try googling medicaid list of doctors in florida.  I use Dogpile myself.  I personally think it's better.

Lived here for 3 yrs,was seeing a doc for pain management for over yr and A half,injury @ work,been unemployed the past yr,moved to jersey in dec n just moved back to ft lauderdALE,got 2 MRIs done showing tear in sldr n herniated bulge in neck.

Long story short can  any1 point me in right direction,dont wanna waste time and especially cash,being im unemployed/uninsured!

I'm also in FL, but I'm on the Treasure Coast, about 1.5 hours north of you.  I don't know if I would recommend my PM doc right now.  I'm a little irritated and questioning their ethics, myself.  
When I was first searching I did a search for "Pain Management Doctors" in South Florida.  You get quite a few adds at the top and that's where I found mine.  You might also find one just in the search.
It's probably going to cost about $200 for an initial visit to go to most places, and it could be quite a bit more to go to others.  I wish I knew of a good place, but I became injured in my move out of Pembroke Pines, and started my PM journey on the other side of the state.

I am a chronic pain patient and I ive in orlando florida.  I recently moved here from ky to help my parents due to them BOTH being sick.  I have done EVERYTHING I know how to in regards of finding a PAIN DR. here.
I am SICK and NOBODY that I have called or went to will prescribe my pain meds.  I take percocet for the BAD pain and it works.  I have been on it for over 5 yrs.  I found a GREAT dr. in ky, and, I felt compassion from him.  Now, I am STUCK.. If ANYONE knows a dr that takes medicaid and prescribes pain meds, PLEASE HELP ME!!!!  I will be TOTALLY out of meds on sept. 21st, they were supposed to be filled on the 15th, I have had to make due with less amount a day to make them last as long as possible.. I have progressive MS/ fibro/nueropathy/herniated discs L1,2 and 3, ( the rest are TORN) RA/ RSD/ arthritis/ osteoporosis/etc... I have just moved my family from Los Angelkes to Jax/St Augustine.  It took a couple years to find a competent PM doctor with some bed side manner & compassion in LA.  Most Drs think it is them against the pain winner take all without regard to the patient!  Can you send me some good PM docs in Jax/St Augustine?

Hey I just moved to Jacksonville Florida from northern georgia amd am having trouble finding a good PM doctor that I can afford. I am uninsured and was referred by my doc to a clinic here...needless to say I was not impressed the doctor was very rude and uninterested and wanted to give me shots and therapy that I could not afford as well as change my meds (roxicodone 30 and soma)that work and that I have been stable on for years. II am desperate to find a good doctor that will actually listen and have some compassion I will be out of meds in a little over a week and im scared to think of what that will be like. I have compressed disc L-3-L-4, L-4-L-5, L-5-S-1 all of them setting on the nerves my doctor has moved and I need another one right away in Pensacola.  I have various MRI and doctor notes to back up my pain.  Please help in severe pain.

Hi Sandee, I am in the Orange Park, FL area (just outside of Jacksonville) and am trying to find a new PMP.  After years (literally) of trying therapy, NSAIDS, Chiropractic, etc... I finally gave in to advice to seek pain management.  I had a horrible time finding someone to see me initially because at the time I could not obtain insurance coverage due to pre-existing conditions.  The dr that would see me was nice enough but after almost a year of treating with him he was seriously injured in an accident and is no longer in practice.  The doctor that took over the practice for him has literally just disappeared now.  I am fortunate that now I have insurance and many more options, however I am very unsure of where to go and do not want to waste my time.  I am a stay at home mom, I home school my daughter and run my husbands company...not to mention I drive about an hour each way every week to grocery shop and help my mom.  I am hoping to find a dr that will not change my meds very much and will be able to offer facet injections/epidural blocks.  Thank you so very much for any assistance you may be able to offer.

Hi fish44, I know of two good clinics. 1 is in Kissimmee & the other is in Tampa. As you know they are getting harder & harder to find a good pain management doctor. But the phone number to the 1 in Kissimmee is 407-944 0sixhundred. They are taking new patients and are great, I wish I could go to them. I'm in Tampa Fl and in a pain center already but I hate going there they are cash only and I'm a fixed income living off food stamps and staywell insurance.
I suffer from Migraines, neck spams, lower back issues that when off meds like I am now (only because my dr shorted me 2wks of meds to try something new which only gave me heartburn) all I do is hurt everywhere.  I'm on Norco been on them for over a year.  
I just don't get drs if the patient is pain free on meds why change them?  If it aint broke don't fix it!!!!
Does anyone know of a Pain place in Tampa Bay area Ill even drive to Orlando that is how much I need help I really tire of jumping through hoops to get help plus the tether of monthly visits is getting on my nerves hard to plan trips when you have a monthly apt that you can't change.  If anyone can help I would be grateful.

I listed 1 above, they also have a sister pain management in Kissimmee. Call them tomorrow and see if they may can help you. But, you must have a current MRI along with pharmacy records and all. Hope this helps you.
