Glad to hear you're feeling better!  Kidney stones can be extremely painful.  Keep pushing the fluids.  They told my daughter it's really important to drink a lot of water if you're prone to kidney stones.

I guess they don't take the context into consideration.  It just must filter out any possible "bad" words.

You can't say P-R-I-C-K on here?

As in, "my ears P-R-I-C-K-E-D up"?

That's a bit odd.

I was thinking along the kidney-stone lines myself, Mellie.

Anytime someone says that they have side pain that radiates towards their back, my ears ***** up and I turn on my "Kidney Stone Radar".

You should probably go and see your PCP. Tell him/her what's going on, and I'm willing to bet they'll order either an x-ray, a KUB or a CT, so they can see what's going on inside.

Good luck;-)

There could be several things going on.  What kind of pain is it? Stabbing, shooting, aching?  Is the pain constant?  Is it getting worse?  You probably need to see your doctor.  My 13-year old daughter had similar pain not long ago.  She never complains and woke up in terrible pain.  I took her to the ER as it was before the doctor's office opened, and I could tell by looking at her that it couldn't wait.  At the time, I was thinking maybe it was her appendix.  When we got to the ER, the nurse that came in the room said right off the bat, "kidney stone."  I was sort of stunned.  I didn't think kids could get them.  Sure enough, that's what it was.  They gave her IV fluids and pain meds.  They couldn't be certain she passed the stone while we were in the ER.  The pain was bad enough that she wound up vomiting.  As suddenly as it came on, it stopped.

The doctor said this could mean she passed the stone or that it had stopped moving.  They gave her a prescription for strong pain medication and sent us home.  The next day she did experience the pain again, and I gave her the medication.  That was the end of it for her.  They did say if you have them once you are at higher risk for getting them again.

Do you have any rash that goes along with this?  Sometimes shingles presents itself with side and back pain along with a rash.  Any fever going on?  Could also be a pulled muscle, appendicitis, or probably a long list of things.

The only way to know for sure is to be seen by your doctor.  See your doctor as soon as you can.  That way, whatever is going on can be treated and they'll come up with a plan on how to deal with the pain.  Keep us posted on what's going on.
