My 16yo son runs track and cross-country. Late last year, he started developing some hip pain after he ran. He took a few weeks off over the holidays, but now that he's back running after school, the pain is back. It doesn't bother him while he's running, but it's sore afterward. Our family doctor thinks it's bursitis and has prescribed an ibuprofen-type drug and a trip to an ortho doctor if it doesn't get better. He suggested a cortisone shot might be in order. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with such pain and what they did about it.
