How can I convinced my doctor to give me lortab

I was in a very aweful motorcycle wreck a couple of years ago where i broke many ribs, got a concussion through my helmet, tore my heart sack and lung, busted my back and knees etc..  At that time, they gave me percocet, and I only took them for about a month.  Everything was fine for about two years.  Now, two years later I am beginning to feel horrible pain in my ribs, knees, back etc.  It is distracting me from my work, and is eating into my ability to focus on important things in life.  I told my doctor about it last visit, but he told me to take 2400 mg of Ibuprofin.  The ibuprofin is making me sick to my stomach and is not working.  I want to approach him and ask him for lortab 10's, because when I do take them, I find myself being able to function like a normal person again.  Any advice on how to delicately approach this matter with my doctor would be appreciated.

Let the doctor be the doctor, you concentrate on being the patient! It seldom "works out" when a patient asks for a certain pain medication. The best way to do it, in my opinion, is to say that "such and such has worked for me in the past. Is it a good option for my current problem"? Let the doctor prescribe what he/she thinks will help, otherwise your just going to look like a drug seeker no matter how you slice it. I'm not suggesting your a drug seeker, I'm just letting you know what the doctor may think of the whole situation. I wish you the best of luck.

They most likely will re do x-rays to make sure everything that was broken or fractured healed correctly.

I would think by now everything would have healed. I know when my son just about fractured every bone in his body they  kept re doing the set of x-rays every four weeks until the trauma center released him for good.

He had an accident to where he fell 84 ft onto concrete..(Long story).

Thank you for your  comments.  My ex-rays show that my ribs are shattered and I have several issues.  I will await my next doctors visit on the 12th of this month to see what he says about seeing a pain treatment center.  Also, if I have further questions, I will post them in the proper forum.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

You may have to go to a different doctor or pain specialist. I am sure if you have those injuries then your x-rays will show significant damage. Please be careful though because these narcotics can turn on you in a hurry. Long term use always results in dependence, addiction or both. Also,You will build tolerance to the lortab and probably find after a time, that it will no longer control your pain. Best wishes to you and as Ariley said above, you may do better to re-post this in the pain management forum.

I'm not sure if you are aware of it or not, but you have posted this in the 'Addiction' forum. This question might be better suited to the 'Pain Management' forum. Or, are you an addict? It sounds like you need to just see your doctor. I'm sure that he/she will need to do testing to find out exactly what is causing your pain. Good luck to you.
