I too have severe Fibro pain, along with several other pain issues. I take 160 mg. Oxycotin daily, and have for nearly 10 years now. 2 1/2 years ago, I moved from bustling San Diego to remote Kealakekua Hawaii. Finding a doctor willing to write a narcotic script - for 80 mg./BID, no less, was a real challenge! After several months, I did find someone. Fortunately, I had a three month supply on hand when I started my search. In my case, an old pill bottle was enough "history", along with a full patient history at the first appt, to get a refill. In the beginning, I was required to do regular pee tests at each appointments, which were almost uncomfortable in the beginning - with many tough questions. But all of that is behind us now, and I know my doctor fully supports my need for pain relief. To make a long story short, it was little more than my current bottle of medication, and not piles of paper, that lead my doctor to believe my need for a serious narcotic prescription.
Hello and welcome to the Pain Forum.
In reading your story, I'm wondering why you wouldn't get your medical records from the clinic that was treating you? Getting these records will make it easier for you to get the proper treatment in a new city.
Yes, illegal drug use is rampid and meds that we so desperatly need are hard to come by when the Doctor doesn't know you.
Jolly had a good idea by telling you to google a pain management clinic in your area. Make sure to get your medical records from the clinic. I'm sure that you will find the help you need. Take care and good luck,
