Welcome to the Pain Management Forum of MedHelp. I am sorry to hear about all the pain and issues you are having from your cerebral palsy. (Please note that often we use the initials "CP" to mean chronic pain.) There are no physicians on this forum. Our members offer suggestions, support and information based on their backgrounds and experience.
Mecobalamin is the generic name for Vitamin B12. Usually it is prescribed when our bodies are unable to absorb the vitamin from the small intestine.
The brand name Promethazine is no longer available in the United States. It is Phenergan. It is used for the prevention and control of nausea and vomiting, sedation in both children and adults, as well as relief of apprehension and perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis.
I'm aware that there are different types of CP and therefore treatments and medications vary. Not all medications and treatments are right for every person with CP. The regimen for a each person must be individual tailored to meet the needs of that individual.
Often muscle relaxants such as Valium are prescribed. They act to reduce spasticity by relaxing the muscles. The most widely used is diazepam ( known as Valium in the USA).
Our brains produce a chemical called dopamine that for one help decrease rigidity and abnormal movements. Medications to help with dopamine production include levodopa/carbidopa (or Sinemet in the USA) and trihexyphenidyl (Artane, again a drug used in the USA).
Your physicians may be using the medications you named for similar results of the medications that I discussed. I noted that you are receiving nothing to treat the pain that you are experiencing. I encourage you to discuss this with your physician and request medications that can reduce your pain level.
Pakistan and the USA may have entirely different approaches to CP. I am not telling you that ours is correct and yours is not. The information that I have provided is not to replace your physicians recommendations. He/she is the expert and I am not.
I hope that you and your physician are able to discover to better regime that will help you feel better. Please let us know how you are doing. And as always, take care,
Also there is a site called the cerebral palsy foundation.
Their site offers alot of information and help to those who have it.
The address is www.ucp.org/
I hope this helps:)

Sandee provided this address www.ucp.org/ on the internet. Copy and paste it into your search engine. This is a good site and their welcome reads: "United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is the leading source of information on cerebral palsy and is a pivotal advocate for the rights of persons with any disability. As one of the largest health charities in America, the UCP mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network"
You may also type in the words cerebral palsey in your search engine and it will pull up additional information for you.
I apologize that I do not know of any clinics or doctors in Pakistan. I do not know the best treatment for your condition. It is dependant on so many factors and only a good physician could help you with this. I am hopeful that the web address we gave will be able to help you with your questions.
Please let us know if this has answered your question.
Take care,
Tuck
