Injected opium(not purposely)

I was at a party and taken advantage of, 10mg alprazolam slipped in my drinks. I wake up with a small but painful bulge on the inside of my elbow and was informed it was OPIUM IV injected. Its not going down, should I start taking Cipro then go to the hospital(been a week). My friend is a nurse and says they can lidocaine the area up and get the opium plant material out. I need info on this

Since you arent going to do anything about being drugged and shot up with something i will address the other issue.  I am concerned about you being in this situation and not concerned about that.  I am a recovering junkie and i will tell you this is a long lonely road.  I would of had myself to the ER the minute i woke up to find out what i had been injected with.  Something isnt adding up here..........I too hope this goes away and you will be okay......sara

also who told you that alprazolam is opiate.  I thought it was a generic form of xanax.  That is a benzo not an opiate.  You should really go to the er just to find out what the hell is in your system!!!  I hope it works out for you

You need to concern yourself with your health first. The pharmacist in my opinion is not qualified to tell you if where the opium is w/o test. Be very careful listening to people who tell you what you want to hear. Also you need to have a retest for Aids/HIV in six months did they tell you this?

Oh and also friends did not do this to me, my nursing friend said she could make the incision and get rid of it, random people i met then hung out with did... but backyard surgery isn't really for me no matter how sanitary it is. I was a Chem major before our house burnt and couldn't afford school, now cant find work.

I went for a free STD test in our town and am clean, still not have went to any health care center(unemployed). The small bulge is slowly going down and is not painful anymore, I talked to some pharmacists and nursing students. They all said going to the ER would be the best idea, but also that over time it should slowly dissolve into my system. Mainly the reason i don't go, besides being poor, is the way to get rid of it they have to make a small incision to get the material out..and i don't want a nasty scar there marking me as a junky for life. I have no pain in my arm and the pharmacist said that it was in the epidermal layer or possibly subcutaneous. It has gotten smaller suggesting it is breaking down, I think im gonna wait another week and see how it looks. I did not take Cipro as I originally planned.

You simply can NOT afford not to go to the ER or your doctor. This is so very important. Not only to see about the injection site but to check for any disease you may have contracted from the needle. There are a number of diseases you could have gotten and it is EXTREMLY important that you go to the doctor ASAP!
I certainly hope you do NOT consider these people your friends! Friends would NEVER EVER do such a thing!
I would also report this to law enforcement. What if the next person is not so lucky and dies from the injection?
The ER will bill you and they will gladly help you make arrangements to pay. If you pay nothing but ten dollars a month they will not turn it into the credit bureau or collections. But this is totally beside the point as you need medical care now and I do really hope you do seek it as soon as possible.
Please let us know how it goes and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
I am not trying to scare you but you have to see a doctor ASAP! Please.

Hi Nevr,

I am sorry that this has happened to you. I hope you do not consider these ppl friends and that you avoid contact with them in the future.

I'm a bit confused as you asked if you should go to the hospital and when you were told yes you said you could not afford it. If you cannot afford ER bills than your other choice is obviously to see a physician. I would not let this go untreated.

Left untreated this "bulge" could develop into complications that could have life threatening consequences. You also need to know if the needle that was used to inject you was "clean" or could you have contracted a serious illness.

Good luck to you. I hope this horrific incident will not have serious complications. Feel free to let us know how things go for you.

Take Care,
Tuck
