Intro continued lol

I made an appointment and at the last minute they put me in with another dr. because mine had an emergency at home.  I told her I felt really weak and could hardly hold my body up and she went into a spiel about how she couldn't change my medications and I had just gotten my refill a week ago.  I told her I am not asking you to change my meds.  Can you just give me a dr's note off work for a little more time till I see my regular doc and she said yes.

Then she went out of the room.  I heard her tell the office manager "She asked me to change her medications and I told her no!  So I just wanted to let you know in case she gives you any trouble!"  When she came back in the room I told her again "I did NOT ask you to change any of my medications!"  She said well it doesn't matter anyway, you can talk to your regular  doctor when you see him.

At my next appointment, he wrote me off work, but he forgot to refill my Soma.  I was still there, making my next appointment, when I realized that I forgot to ask for my refill.  When I asked to talk to him before I left they said he was already in with another patient.  I left a message and what pharmacy I use and didn't hear back.  Four days later I called and they said in order to get my med refill I would have to come in again.  So a week later, I go in for my appointment and they ask me for a urine sample.

I ask if the urine sample is for a pregnancy test or something and my PA says it is to test how my liver is metabolizing my medications.  In other words, I believe they are drug testing me!  I am not worried about anything because I do not abuse my medications and I do not do any illegal drugs.  So when I bring them the urine, I ask if it's a test they do here or send to a lab or what.  The guy taking my sample says, you sure do ask a lot of questions.  Are you nervous or something??  Then he leaves the room.  When he came back I said "No I am not nervous.  I have a right to ask these questions.  If you send it to the lab my insurance does not pay for it and I have to pay out of pocket."

Rude, rude people!!  Luckily I have a new patients appointment with another doctor on the 17th.  I have never been treated this way in my life.  I have never understood the stigma that goes along with these medications until I experienced it first hand.  Do any of you have these problems as well?

I go to see the rheumatologist on the 6th to get my nerve test results.  I am thinking fibromyalgia.  The neurologist also asked if I have had a brain MRI yet.  So I may have to go in for that too.  We will see.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Again,

I commented on your first post before I read this one. You absolutely have a right to know what the urine test is for and where they are conducting the testing. If they did a drug screen without your knowledge I think this is totally unprofessional at the least. I'm not even sure how legally any testing is if it is done without your consent. In PM programs you sign a contract that allows them to conduct random drug screening. Welcome to the wonderful world of chronic pain and pain management!

I am so glad to hear that you are moving on from this facility. And to think you paid to be treated so poorly!! There are great, kind and caring physicians out there. I hope you will find one.

Good luck to you,
Tuck

Thank you for your comments.  I will be looking up a DO in my area.  Hopefully there is someone out there that is a bit more compassionate and respectful.
