Is Oxycodone causing my neck pain?

I have been taking oxycodone recreationally on the weekends for the past year or so. About 10-15 mg/time. Recently I noticed that the day or days following taking these pills that I have been having chest pain and neck pain. My neck pain seems to get worse when it is cold out. I am 28 years old and in good health and had a chest xray and doctor exam 6 months and he said everything was fine and that I'm paranoid. I didn't tell him that I take these pills though since I'm not prescribed them. I was wandering if I should be concerned about this and if this is just a normal side effect from taking these. Also has anyone had similar experience. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Okay, you feel for some reason that you have to be right. I'm can live with that, doesn't make a difference to me.
But for your own personal knowlege I'd look into it more and check your sources again.
Felony charges and sentancing can get complicated.

But gosh thanks for the welcome anyway!

I called the sheriff's dept to make sure about this fact. You can in Fl be charged with a felony for each pill but the LE usually goes the weight route which the pills are weighed in grams. The LE and courts reserve the right to charge a felony for each pill though. The mandatory is 25 years.

Oh and also. If your abusing narcotics it can effect your heart causing chest pain, heart attacks and even strokes.

Maybe what you ment to say is that each felony count for posession is worth up to 25 years in prison.
Not each seperate pill.

If the above were true it would mean that everyone who got arrested for having more than 4 narcotic pills would be serving more than a life sentance.

Mandatory sentancing doesn't always mean someone even serves the minimun time. Sentancing varies from person to person dependant upon their prior record if any, type of drug and amount.
It also depends upon whether the DA feels that this person has valuble information and enough of it to lead to the arrest and prosecuttion of the main supply source, or King Pin if you will.
If so charges can be reduced in turn reducing sentancing.

Thank You Sandee. And littleturbo if you are still reading this I hope you noticed Sandee's post about the mandatory 25 years for every pill. You may want to share that with your supplier. She's up on the laws.

Isn't it true that almost any narcotic can cause rebound pain? I think that means if you have pain to begin with doesn't it? If you are taking these Oxy's for recreational use as the poster indicated than I am not sure rebound pain would apply in this instance. So now he may may very well have a pain issue that wasn't present when he began this reckless practice. Rather it is due to the oxy's or not cannot be determined until he is off them but I would bet not as long as he is also having chest pain....just my thoughts.

I read in several articles that this medication can cause a type of rebound pain.
There was another question recently that was almost the same as yours and I did some research.
You need to get off of these pills and tell your "friend" he is committing a felony by giving you them. Your also committing a felony by receiving them.

If you are only smoking 10 cigarettes a day it should not be causing chest pain if you are healthy. But you won't remain healthy if you continue to smoke.

And I believe that you did not know that taking Oxycodone illegally harmed those that really needed it as I have said earlier in detail. The person that is supplying you these narcotics should know the results of his actions.

You have had two answers to your questions, Sandee said yes this could be causing your pain and Jaybay said no it shouldn't be causing your pain. I don't know which one is correct. What I do know is that you need to get clean and see a physician to work up your chest and neck pain asap. Cardiac pain cause reveal itself in both chest and neck pain. You are never too young to have cardiac issues.

You know, it's not just you but the guy who gets 300 per month and sells them.....
That's the problem.  It puts the question into the Doctors mind that we could be potential drug seekers. This is also why others have such horrible experiences in the pain management offices where they are required to give a urine sample to make sure they are not selling or giving away ther meds and when it comes back negative  due to uncontrollable circumstances or "bad testing" the patient is cut off from their pain control and their chart red flagged so that they may never get adequate care again......What a shame

I have never had a neck injury or any other injury and I was diagnosed with asthma as a child and it rarely ever bothers me. I don't drink alcohol or do any others drugs. I do smoke 10 cigarettes/day. I am by no way addicted to these pills and I do realize the dangers. I never realized that me taking them once in a while makes it harder for people who need them to get them. A guy I know gets prescribed 300 a month and gives me a few and yes I like the buzz but it is something I am going to stop doing because I really think my neck pain is from them. Chest pain maybe from smoking. But maybe not. I am getting health insurance in 2 weeks at my job and I'm going back to my doctor. I'm afraid that if I tell him I do use the pills illegally then he will just blame my pain on them and tell me to stop using, and maybe miss something that might be wrong. Thanks for your comments good or bad.

It seems you have asked if the medications your using illegally is actually causing you pain. If this is correct then yes it could be.
Your traveling a very dangerous road here taking these medications that your not prescribed! If you have pain issues then you need to see a Dr and go about obtaining the medication you need legally.
I believe Mollyrae and Tuckamore have explained what your doing hurts the people who truly need these medications and you are causing great pain to yourself and others by using these medications illegally. I implore you to do the right thing here and see a Dr who will help if you do indeed have pain.
Med Help does not condone illegal drug use or using this or any other community to discuss illegally using or obtaining medications your not prescribed by your Dr.

I don't need to repeat what Tuck and Molly already said, but as to the essence of your question, no.  The oxycodone should not cause neck or chest pain.  Aside from substance abuse issues, you likely need to see a doctor about what may be going on physically with your neck.  Have you ever had a neck injury?  Car accident?  Whiplash, or something like that?  It can take months sometimes after a whiplash for example, for a spinal disc to protrude enough to put pressure on a nerve and cause symptoms.

If you have any underlying allergy or asthma issues, the oxycodone can make those noticeably worse and cause chest pain.  Any narcotic slows respiration, and given enough of it, can cause you to stop breathing and die.  If you have asthma, chronic bronchitis, COPD or any other respiratory problem, recreational use of narcotics can kill you, and do it a lot faster than your partying buddies.

Who knows - maybe you got loaded enough one too many times and had a fall that now is causing you physical problems.  Best to get it checked it out - and stop partying with narcotics.  :-)

Excuse me littleturbo but you have come to the wrong place for answers, at least from me. This is a Pain Management Forum where Chronic Pain Suffers members do not take drugs for recreational purposes. I apologize for not being kind but indeed it is the recreational users that make it difficult for many of us to obtain prescriptions to control our unrelenting, life altering, all encompassing, knock your socks off pain.

Yes you should be concerned, concerned that you are the very reason that we are often looked upon as drug seekers, faking it or accused of diverting our medications. I suggest you discontinue your use of illegal prescription drugs and you will not have to worry if your neck pain can be attributed to the drugs.

I think the forum you are looking for is the "Substance Abuse " Forum. There you will find others who use pain meds for the "Fun" of it. This forum is designed to help members with chronic pain due to an injury or illness.

It sounds like you are concerned about your health because of your llegal use of narcotics...Shouldn't that tell you to stop using.

You should have been up front with your Doctor...Taking narcotics the way that you do is obviously hurting your body. I wouldn't doubt that you are damaging your body and the pain might be related to that.

I have to tell you that because of ppl like you who use narcotics illegally makes it hard for the rest of us that really need the meds but have a hard time getting them because of this. Please stop using and visit the Substance Abuse forum.....
