My insurance will pay for my medicine filled once a week, but not for once a month. What's the difference to them? To me it's driving many miles (4x a week), and paying the doctor for 4 visits instead of one visit per month. They want me to go to the 200mg. MScontin instead of 130mg. (100 mg. pill, and a 30mg. pill)-3 times a day. I understand it's less pills at 200 mg., but it's also a much higher dose to take 200 mgs. 3x a day, than 130mgs.
Call your insurance company and ask to speak to a representative and explain your situation. They can sometimes help and if they can't they will turn you over to someone who can:)
It makes no sense to me unless their thought is you will soon be off the medication, which makes no sense either if you are a chronic pain patient.
If after you contact the insurance company you are still unable to make your situation understood sometimes the physicians office has more clout. Ask that a memeber of your physicians team (usually the nurse) to call and speak to your insurance company.
If your do not obtain satisfaction in your initial request keep calling. The squeaky wheel usually gets oiled.
My doctor filed a "Prior Authorization" twiceTwice-a-day to remedy this situation. The RX insurance states that they havn't received anything from the doctor yet. I'm contacting my doctor to make sure the info was sent to the correctCorrect (new formula) place(twce). Yikes!
