Why are u even on this site since you must be a very healthy person with no pain problems. I dont know of any pain pt,s that go work out for fear of more injury to there body. Please look at want you wrote. And look at most of the things going on here.

Thank you so for all the supp, you are right about the phamacist. In this county in fl in which I live the new rule is only pain doctors in this county can they fill for. The list has about 6 or 7 dr,s. One of them I choice I found out has a record with the sheriff,s dept. I guess it only matters for what. He has not been accused of over prescribing but beating up his wife and having a very bad temper.I dont even know any dr,s in this area if I did believe me I would be calling for appt.I am so sorry to hear of all the pain that was caused to you and other pt,s from your dr,s office. I hate being  look at as a drug abuser because I suffer from chronic pain there has to be help some where .I know here in fl. that we are one of the few states that has some dr,s left that will and can write our meds.I do know of one but he is one country over and because of the area I live in the phamacies here  will not fill. Its become so out of control the way a pain pt is treated.I will still go on looking .I hope through this site I can at least get some doctors names that I can call and I always talk to the nurse or med asst. who works with the dr. and ask if they write the type of narcotics,s that I take.I am not afraid to call and ask as I said my problems are real . I got my s.s. disablity at age 49 due to my server back and neck pain.I will not overlook or leave no stone over turned in order to have some what of a normal life. I will go right on asking for pain mang. dr in this area. The sadder thing is I could go to Tampa  and more than likely get my meds if someone would give me a dr or clinic name. But then I have to find a pham. in that area. But I will find someone I hope the caring people on this site will at least write with info. Thank u, shity

You just have to keep making appointments and keep trying to find a doctor that you like, and one that will treat you with what you need. My only other suggestion is to ask your pharmacist for advice on a good pain doctor. I know a lot of people don't have that type of relationship with their pharmacist to ask such a thing, but I do. My pharmacist is probably the most knowledgeable healthcare provider that i have. It's a shame that most people overlook the resources they can provide by simply asking, and it's free! good luck,

Hi. I just read your story and unfortunately I to know exactly what your going through.Back in 2009 I had a great Dr who I had been seeing for years for pain managment she was kind and caring and listened to her patient. Unfortunately there was one bad seed in her clinic and because of that mans actions my Dr lost her liscense to prescribe narcotic medication for something completely out of her control. Because of this 1 person it caused ALL of her pain patients to lose their prescriptions for their narcotics medications. This caused hundreds of pain patients to go through horrible inhumane withdrawls,, many hundreds of people were admitted to the hospital in severe withdrawl, some had organ failure due to the shock their bodies were going through and because the clinic got a bad name for all of this...so did any former patients of hers...no former patients of hers could find a Dr to treat them as soon as they saw your records of where you came from you were instantly treated horribly, and denied any treatment for pain medication. There was actually a flyer going around the medical community that if you encountered any of these patients from this clinic that they are NOT to be treated with any narcotic medication.  This is WRONG and how this was legal I dont know but the sad fact of the matter is we as pain patients are being denied the medications we need to try and live as normal of a life as possible.I too have been in pain managment for almost 10 years I have tried physical therapy, S.I. joint injections, trigger point injections, non narcotic meds, massage therapy. ..you name it nothing helps me to function as much as the medications do but in todays society there is such a awful stigma attached to pain medications and the people that need them are being denied help by any and every Dr you go to for fear that the D.E.A will be knocking down their door next if they prescribe to you. This has caused so much unecessary pain and suffering of so many people who need these medications. Unfortunately we cant change the fact that there is always going to be people that abuse drugs whether prescribed or not if its not pain medication it will be something else..taking pain medication off the market or out of society isnt going to change the fact that these abusers are just that drug abusers and users yet we people that take our medicine as prescribed and follow the rules are the ones being punished here. I know Florida had a HUGE problem a couple years ago and the D.E.A. shut down the bad clinics and now the Dr s down there are afraid to help anyone who needs it and if you can find a rare dr to help then the pharmacy refuses to fill it. This is just a downward spiral into the nightmare that has become today's reality. I am so sorry you too are in this position as so many others are.The withdrawls are terrifying and that is what we all fear when we run out of medicine for something out of our control along with the pain. Have you tried to find a suboxone provider in your area? I know people that take that and say it helps tremendously with withdrawl. Unfortunately you may find a Dr more willing to prescribe suboxone before you find one that will prescribe any pain meds. Good luck to you and I hope your able to get the medication you need. Stay strong and hang in there in the meantime.

Thank u so much for a reply. Let me give u a little more info about myself. I am new to this site and was not sure how it worked .I am 55yrs old I was a surg tech at TGH in Tampa for 21yrs I have several disk in my back that are pressing on one another. I can not even bend and touch my toes any more.We did lots of heavy lifting. In the day there was no such thing as a lift team so when there was a trauma it didnt matter if they weighed 125 or 325 we did it quick and fast as best we could. At 37 I found out I had degenertive disk deseiase. Excuse my spelling I am from the deep south an I spell the way it sounds if i draw a blank on spelling lol!!! Anyway back to the real problems.. I had a wonderful dr. here in citrus country that was understanding. I have been on metadone and oxycodone 30mg for over 7 yrs now I take 4 or 5 other non-norcotic pain meds. I tried walking epidurals trigger inj. an other treatments in the past pills was not the answer at  time till i tried other things   when this all started. I suffer from high blood pressure and .when i hurt for long perionds of time  its to the roof.I have 4 gown children a wonderful husband and 6 grandchildren that love me and I them I want to be around to enjoy them So when taking my med,s just like I should following the rules having all my records MRI,S RX,S DRUG HISTORY everything I need. now  a good caring dr. that will  listen to what I have to say and is not dead set on not writing my meds. The other problem here in citrus country is pharmices not wanting to fill for a out of county dr.They have made it a rule not a law but a rule. This has all gotten so crazy because of all the abuse.I have no ideia who to see where to fill it my pharmacy will approve .So this is my story and It looks like many many others are having same  thing going on. All i can tell u is I myself am a chronic pain pt. without a dr. at present I have about a wk of meds left. I am soooo stressed I can not beleive this is happening to me all because my dr,s no longer working. So if there is any info u could share I would thank u kindly. p.s.as for the other reply u hit the nail on the head does this person really think that going to the gym is the answer for all pain pt,s. Again thank u and if u can help I will even email u my phone number my email address is ***@****

Unfortunately, not everyone is able to just go to the gym and exercise to relieve pain. In my case, I have enough trouble just working nine hours a day and am in such pain after a long day at work, going to a gym to work out just isn't going to happen.

Allofat, Its great that it has worked for you, that's totally awesome, but everyone is individual and different and what may work for one person, may not work for another. However, I do agree, some form of exercise is very important, even if it is just walking. Many times after everything has been tried, medications tend to be part of our total pain management plan, not all of it, just a part of it, its just the way it is for some of us. It doesn't mean that we are weak or just want pills, it just means we need help to get us through our day and have some sort of quality of life.

Cyn, I may be able to give you some better advice, if you shared a little more of your issues. If you don't want to post here, please feel free to send me a private message. Good luck to you!
