The surgeon wanted an MRI today because of the unbearable pain I have been having since surgery. I got the CD home and it shows I have two large disc herniations. One above and one below the fusion. My C7 is clearly hitting the spinal cord and my C5 is just against it. I'm at a total loss. I see the surgeon in two days.
I am so, so very sorry that this has happened to you. How could you herniate a disc just four weeks post-op, when you were resting? I know they can happen with a simple twist of your body but this is puzzling. I guess at this point it doesn't matter how, it's now a matter of what can be done to repair it.
Don't give up your hope of running again. I know that running is a high impact sport but you apparently love to run. I would hold out hope that in the future you may be able to return to running. Or possibly if you can't run again you could find a compromise sport.
Please let us know what the surgeon has to say. I will be thinking about you and hoping for the best. Take care, TuckTucks hc
