MS Contin??

My doctor has changed my pain med from 10mg Lortab to 75mg MS Contin.  I notice that I do not get the high with the MS Contin but how much stronger is this versus the Lortab?  I am scared to death about addiction and trying to get off this stuff when the time comes.  Thanks.

Hi Tropicalsoul:  I'm so sorry you're having this worry.  Sherry is , as usual, correct.  If you haven't had addiction problems in the past and are using your meds as directed, you may have a physical dependence on your meds but you are NOT an addict.  There's a big difference.  I'm sure your doctor can put your mind at ease on this matter.

I've seen a chart somewhere on the comparison of the pain medications.  I'll see if I can find it again.

I'm sure someone will have a much better answer for you tomorrow.  So please check back in .

Good Evening Tropicalsoul,

I don't use the MS Contin but I did use the Lortab and Norco. From what I have read they are about equal in strength. Except of course you are going to be using the 75mg instead of the 10 so that will be much stronger than what you are taking now. The MS Contin is also used for a long acting medication where the Lortab isn't.

Have you had a problem with addiction before with any medications? If not and you use the meds the correct way you should be OK. If you are very concerned about the addiction problem (and you seem to be ) you should talk to your Doctor about the possibility and see what he would suggest.

I wish you the very best and I hope that you will let us know how you are doing..Sherry
