Morphine & Pregnancy -Chronic Pain moms

I would really like to know if anyone has taken morphine in pregnancy and upon giving birth if their baby had with drawls or not AND what dosage PLEASE!

I have heard a few moms say they were taking Oxycontin 40mg three times a day with no baby withdrawals, but did not know if morphine was the same.

I do go to a pain management place, I am in severe pain, I do not need lecturing, there are times I think about just ending it all just to stop the pain. my vitals are off the roof, and I just cant take it anymore.  I am becoming depressed which is not normally for me, because the severe pain enslaves me to pain medications and leaves me little options.  I just need to know MOMs DOSAGES of what kind of pain medication they were taking and what happened with their newborn.

I really appreciate it!!

Hi again Jenny, as long as your doctors know then they should be able to monitor you and the baby, I completely understand the need for pain medication, even if your pregnant, what is your pain going to magically disappear because your pregnant? Don't beat yourself up, like I said, there are many women who still need their pain meds even though they are pregnant. Hang in there. 8-)

My OBGYN referred me to my pain specialist place for pain management.  They gave me a few prescriptions themselves in the early pregnancy.  Many moms have severe chronic pain conditions and sometimes end up pregnant. Its a horrible position to be in, but if I cannot take care of myself than I cannot take of my girls at home.  I do feel trapped and wish that I could just be free, of pain meds and of pain, but life is just not that simple

Jenny, I've read of many people that needed to take medications while pregnant, so you're not alone. Personally I didn't have that issue because my pain started way after my son was born. The first thing i would do is make an appointment with a specialist OB/GYN, they will be able to help you, the baby and your pain. They will be able to advise you on how much is safe and those kinds of things, its really not something to panic over, you have to do what is good for BOTH of you. I wish you the best of luck and congratulations on the baby.
